At the Elle’s Women event in Hollywood, Jennifer Lawrence drew attention when she shared her humiliating memories in the Hollywood entertainment industry,
especially after the recent shocking scandal about film producer Harvey Weinstein sexually harassing a series of female actors.
Although Jennifer was not harassed by Harvey Weinstein, the actress said that when she first started her acting career, Jennifer also experienced a humiliating and humiliating incident.
Jennifer shared that she was once asked by the producers of a film to lose 15 pounds (6.8 kg): “An actress was previously fired for not losing weight in time.
And at that time, a female film producer told me to line up naked with 5 women who were much thinner than me. We stood next to each other, with only tape covering our private parts.
After that embarrassing line-up, the female film producer told me to use the nude photos as motivation to diet.”
Even worse, Jennifer said: “I asked to speak to another film producer because the diet was so extreme. He replied that he didn’t understand why people thought I was fat, he thought I looked good enough to sleep with” (words have been translated to be soft).
Not only that, the director of that film didn’t help Jennifer either. She said: “He told me to star in a porn film, and many other things that are not appropriate to repeat here, in this dress”.
The young star recalled that at that time she felt “imprisoned” because she had no power: “I couldn’t get a film producer, or a director, or the head of a film studio fired. I let myself be treated like that because I felt forced to do so for my career”.
“I didn’t want to be a gossip. I didn’t want these stories to be gossiped about in magazines. I just wanted to have an acting career.”
It wasn’t until Jennifer was cast as Katniss in the blockbuster “The Hunger Games” that everything changed, because she had become a movie superstar and had the right to say “no” to others. The young star said: “I exercised every day because the character Katniss is very strong, I didn’t want to represent a skinny body like a skeleton. I didn’t want young girls to skip meals because they wanted to be like Katniss.”
Jennifer expressed: “In a dream world, everyone is treated with equal respect. But until we get there, I will speak up for any boy, girl, man or woman who feels they can’t stand up for themselves.”
The star sent a message to young women in the film industry: “I want you to know that we are here for you. We have each other’s backs. Together, we will stop harassment from now on. We will not normalize harassment. We will change things and make a difference for every person who wants to pursue their dreams.”
