Kate Garraway breaks silence on career move away from Good Morning Britain

Kate Garraway has revealed an exciting new career move, stepping away from her usual role on ITV’s Good Morning Britain to take on a fresh challenge.

The 57-year-old television presenter shared the news during a recent episode of the breakfast show, where she appeared alongside co-hosts Ed Balls and Susanna Reid.

During the show, entertainment correspondent Richard Arnold highlighted an upcoming project that will see Garraway appearing in a different light.

She is set to join the celebrity lineup for the latest series of The Great Celebrity Bake Off: Stand Up To Cancer, which returns to Channel 4 on March 16.

The show will feature a host of well-known personalities, including Roman Kemp, Jamali Maddix,

and Maxine Peake, as they put their baking skills to the test in support of a good cause.

Kate Garraway on Joining Celebrity Bake Off

While discussing her involvement in the popular baking competition, Garraway reflected on the experience with her co-hosts. Ed Balls playfully asked whether she had a “soggy bottom,” referencing the show’s famous baking mishaps. In response, she humorously admitted, “I always have a soggy bottom, Ed, as you well know!” This lighthearted exchange set the tone for her enthusiasm about participating in the show.

Garraway expressed her enjoyment of the competition, revealing that while she couldn’t disclose too many details, the experience was “brilliant” and full of fun moments. She hinted that her baking skills may not be the most polished, but she embraced the challenge wholeheartedly.

The Great Celebrity Bake Off Returns

The much-loved show will once again see celebrity contestants take on three baking challenges: the signature, the technical, and the showstopper. Each episode will feature four celebrities competing for the coveted Star Baker title.

A notable change in this year’s series is the judging lineup. Paul Hollywood remains a central figure on the show, but this time, he will be joined by Caroline Waldegrave. Waldegrave, a respected culinary expert and former co-owner of Leiths School of Food & Wine, steps in as a judge while Prue Leith takes a temporary break from the celebrity edition of the competition.

Leith previously addressed speculation about her departure, clarifying that while she is taking a break from The Great Celebrity Bake Off this year, she remains a key part of the franchise. She explained that the rigorous filming schedule, running from April to August, left her wanting more time to travel and explore new opportunities.

A New Venture for Kate Garraway

Garraway’s participation in the celebrity baking competition marks a notable shift from her usual role as a news presenter. While she remains a familiar face on Good Morning Britain, this new endeavor allows her to showcase a different side of her personality. It also aligns with her history of taking on varied projects, including writing books and participating in reality television.

Her involvement in The Great Celebrity Bake Off not only adds an exciting dimension to her career but also contributes to a meaningful cause. The show is part of the Stand Up To Cancer campaign, which raises funds for cancer research and treatment. By joining the celebrity lineup, Garraway is using her platform to support a vital initiative while entertaining audiences in the process.

What’s Next for Garraway?

While it remains to be seen how well she fares in the baking tent, Garraway’s latest venture highlights her versatility as a television personality. Whether she emerges as a Star Baker or simply enjoys the experience, her participation in the show is sure to bring laughs and memorable moments.

Fans can look forward to seeing her embrace this new challenge when The Great Celebrity Bake Off: Stand Up To Cancer premieres on March 16 on Channel 4. In the meantime, Garraway continues to balance her role on Good Morning Britain while exploring new opportunities beyond the breakfast show.

With her signature warmth and humor, she is set to bring her own unique charm to the Bake Off tent, making this series one to watch.
