Kathie Lee Gifford has always been known for her radiant personality and unwavering faith,

but the television icon recently revealed that she endured a deep period of despair that left her questioning her purpose.
Speaking on Praise with Sheila Walsh, Gifford candidly shared how she struggled with emotional pain
and personal disappointment over the past two years, leading her to a dark place where she felt she had nothing left to give.

Struggling with Despair

During the interview, Gifford admitted that she had reached a point where she longed for her life to be over.

“The last two years, because of the pain and a disappointment in my personal life… I wanted to go home to Jesus,” she confessed. “I felt like God was done with me because I couldn’t walk anymore.”
The beloved television host and singer explained that despite significant blessings in her life, including the birth of her beautiful grandchildren, she still found herself overwhelmed with sorrow.
“I was in a black place and a black space for two years. And I just kept crying out to Him, ‘Lord, if this is it, if this is all You have for me, I’m okay. Take me home… why would I want to be here?’”
Her honest admission highlights the depth of her struggles, revealing that even someone as strong in faith as Gifford can face moments of doubt and hopelessness.

Finding a Path Forward
Despite the darkness she felt, Gifford shared that she gradually found a way out through prayer and a shift in perspective.
“And in the meantime, God’s doing two things to you,” she explained. “You just lash out, angry at Him, or you start to see everywhere around you that there were people suffering far more than you are, and it gives you compassion for them that you thought you had, but you don’t know until it’s you.”
Through prayer and focusing on the struggles of others, Gifford found the strength to keep moving forward.

“I was praying for all these other people, and that, I think, was the road out,” she reflected.
Her words emphasize the power of faith, empathy, and shifting one’s focus outward to overcome personal struggles.
A Message of Faith and Forgiveness
Gifford frequently shares messages of hope, faith, and encouragement with her followers on social media. In a recent Instagram post, she wrote a heartfelt prayer about forgiveness and healing.

“O LORD, please soften our hardened hearts towards all who have hurt us and betrayed us and left us broken,” she wrote. “Please help us to forgive it all, and look to You for the example of how to live our lives for You and for Your kingdom.”
Her message resonated with many, as she continues to be a source of inspiration for those who look to faith as a guiding light during difficult times.
Thoughts on Donald Trump’s Potential Second Term
Beyond her personal journey, Gifford also shared her thoughts on former President Donald Trump and his future in politics. She reflected on how she has seen Trump evolve over the years, expressing confidence in his dedication to his promises.

“He is an ever-evolving human being, and this man will not rest until he has fulfilled every promise that he has made to the American people. That I do know about Donald,” she said in a recent interview.
Having known Trump since the early 1980s, Gifford acknowledged that he has changed over time.
“I mean, he’s not a perfect man by any means, but he’s a different man now. He’s a different man than the man I met in 1981,” she added.
