Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Are Stunned After Phone Goes Off During ‘Live’: ‘What’s That Noise?’

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos experienced an unexpected interruption during the live taping of Live With Kelly and Mark on Tuesday, February 18.

The beloved co-hosts, who have charmed audiences with their natural chemistry,

were taken by surprise when an audience member’s cell phone rang loudly in the middle of the broadcast.

Before the unexpected phone call, Mark was already dealing with technical issues.

As he attempted to engage with the audience, his earpiece began feeding back audio, causing some confusion.

The Riverdale star, 53, turned to the production team for assistance, asking, “What’s that noise? Is that my mic?”

The team confirmed that his feed was outsourcing the audio, prompting minor adjustments behind the scenes.

Meanwhile, Kelly, 54, kept the conversation going, seamlessly transitioning into a lighthearted discussion about skipping school as children. As Mark recounted a story about forging an absence note from his parents, a loud ringtone suddenly echoed through the studio. Mark’s expression of shock was quickly followed by Kelly’s comedic reaction.

“This show has hit the skids!” Kelly declared with an amused smile. She then playfully addressed the audience member, saying, “Tell your mom we’ll call her back! ‘I just saw you on TV!’ That’s how that conversation was about to go!”

Mark, ever the good sport, chimed in with a humorous remark: “Who knows. I was telling a story, but I don’t care!”

During the commercial break, Kelly took the opportunity to approach the audience member whose phone had rung. When she inquired about the caller, the woman responded that it had been a scammer. Kelly didn’t miss a beat and jokingly advised her, “You should give them your credit card and social security numbers!”

Following the broadcast, Live With Kelly and Mark’s official social media account shared a clip of the moment, sparking laughter among fans in the comments section. One viewer humorously speculated, “That’s funny. I thought it was Mark’s mom calling in,” accompanied by a laughing emoji.

This wasn’t the first time a ringing phone disrupted the show. In June 2023, Kelly called out another audience member for a similar mishap. With her signature wit, she said, “Don’t look to her, you know it’s yours. I know whose it is. I’ve done this in church!” She then lightened the moment by recalling how her own phone once went off in church, revealing that her ringtone at the time was Britney Spears’ iconic “It’s Britney, b****” from Gimme More.

These unexpected hiccups have become part of what makes Live With Kelly and Mark so endearing. The authenticity and relatability of these moments keep viewers tuning in, making the show one of the most-watched syndicated talk shows for nearly two years. Fans appreciate the realness of Kelly and Mark’s interactions, seeing them as more than just TV personalities but as members of their extended family.

“It’s not some giant mystery: Kelly and Mark get along as coworkers because their marriage is so solid,” a source close to the couple shared in December 2024. “Any of the initial skepticism around bringing Mark into the co-host role alongside Kelly has pretty much evaporated. Despite all the talk about the decline of broadcast television, Live remains a highly profitable enterprise, and Kelly’s fans continue to embrace both her and Mark.”

It’s clear that the natural, unfiltered moments—whether it’s a ringing phone or a technical glitch—only add to the charm of Live With Kelly and Mark. The duo’s ability to roll with the punches and turn minor mishaps into comedic gold is what keeps audiences engaged, proving that, sometimes, the best moments on live television are the ones you can’t plan.
