Kelly Ripa And Mark Consuelos Beckon ‘Live’ EP Michael Gelman On Camera To Complain The Teleprompter Screen Is Too Dark: “Can You See That Actually?”

Tuesday’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark took an unexpected turn

when the show’s executive producer, Michael Gelman, found himself in the spotlight – all thanks to a malfunctioning teleprompter.

The comedic moment unfolded during a casual segment when Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos were in the middle of discussing the day’s upcoming segments.

Consuelos, who was struggling to read his lines from the teleprompter, inadvertently invited Gelman into the spotlight, much to the amusement of the hosts and the viewers at home.

The Teleprompter Troubles

As Ripa and Consuelos were introducing a segment for the day, Consuelos appeared to be having trouble reading his next line.

While attempting to announce the winner of the Predict the Winners Ballot Game, he focused intently on a particular area around the camera, seemingly unable to make out the words. Ripa, noticing his struggle, immediately pointed toward the teleprompter and jokingly beckoned Gelman over to investigate the situation.

“Plus, we will see who won the trip to Mexico when we announce the winner of the Predict the Winners Ballot Game,” Consuelos read aloud, but his eyes darted around, clearly puzzled by what was on the screen.

Ripa and Consuelos both signaled toward the teleprompter and called out to Gelman, who was off-camera. “Gelman, come here. I want you to see this… You know you like to be on camera,” Ripa said with a playful tone, adding a bit of humor to the situation.

Gelman Steps In

Gelman, who is typically behind the scenes, took the opportunity to join the hosts on camera as Ripa encouraged him to read what Consuelos was struggling to see. When asked if he could “see” what was written on the teleprompter, Gelman began reading aloud Consuelos’ line, confirming the problem.

“Well, I can tell you right now, it’s a little dark,” Gelman admitted, referencing the issue with the teleprompter’s visibility. Consuelos agreed, adding that the screen appeared “very dark,” making it difficult for him to make out the words.

Ripa, ever the jokester, suggested they adjust the brightness on the screen to fix the problem. “Maybe we need to bring up the brightness on the screen,” she proposed, but it was clear the situation wasn’t quite so simple.

Behind the Scenes Fun

The lighthearted moment continued as Ripa teased the crew, who had adjusted the camera angle to make the teleprompter screen look brighter on camera. As Gelman and the team worked to resolve the issue, viewers got a behind-the-scenes peek at the teleprompter, which featured legible blue text on a black background. Despite looking bright on the camera, it was clear that the teleprompter was much harder to read in real life.

“You guys are so full of S. Stop it,” Ripa joked, directing her playful remarks at the crew. “‘Let me get the angle so it looks bright.’ No, with eyeballs, not camera lenses, it’s impossible to see.” Ripa’s humorous quip brought some lightheartedness to the situation, making it clear that the teleprompter mishap was nothing more than a funny glitch during an otherwise smooth show.

A Moment of Humor

While Gelman may not have expected to get extra screen time, the unintentional mishap gave fans a rare glimpse of the Live with Kelly and Mark team’s dynamic behind the scenes. The fun and casual atmosphere that Ripa, Consuelos, and Gelman share with each other is a big part of what makes the show so entertaining for viewers. The spontaneous and unscripted moments like these allow fans to see the personalities behind the camera and enjoy the camaraderie that makes Live feel so relatable.

Though teleprompter malfunctions can be a source of stress for any live broadcast, Ripa and Consuelos handled the situation with their signature humor and easy-going charm. Gelman, despite being thrust into the spotlight, took it all in stride, allowing for a hilarious moment that only added to the fun of the show.

In the end, the teleprompter mishap may have given Gelman some unexpected camera time, but it also showcased the light-hearted and playful energy that makes Live with Kelly and Mark a fan favorite. Whether it’s a minor technical glitch or a bigger behind-the-scenes moment, the trio’s chemistry and ability to roll with the punches are what keep the show fresh and entertaining.
