Kelly Ripa makes shock facelift confession after admitting to getting Botox ‘three times a year’

Kelly Ripa has always been open about her beauty and wellness routines, and now she’s sharing the one plastic surgery procedure she’s interested in pursuing.

During a recent episode of her Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast, the 54-year-old TV personality admitted that she has been considering a mini facelift.

A Minimalist Approach to Cosmetic Procedures

During the discussion with her plastic surgeon, Dr. David Rosenberg, Ripa described herself as a “minimalist” when it comes to cosmetic enhancements.

She revealed that she gets Botox injections just three times a year and has been selective about which areas she treats.

“I do the crow’s feet and the neck, and that’s it,” she explained, emphasizing that she avoids excessive treatments.

Interestingly, Ripa didn’t initially use Botox for wrinkles. She first received the injections to reduce excessive underarm sweating before realizing it could also be used cosmetically.

“I used to get Botox just in my armpits to stop sweating,” she shared. “One day, I asked [Dr. Rosenberg], ‘Do you think I should put Botox in my face?’ And he looked at me and said, ‘I thought this day would never come.’”

At 39, she decided to give facial Botox a try, realizing that there was a “sweet spot” for when to start the treatment.

Why She’s Interested in a Mini Facelift

Though Ripa is committed to a strict skincare routine, she admitted that she’s intrigued by the mini facelift—a less invasive version of a traditional facelift.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, a mini facelift focuses on tightening the jowls and neck rather than addressing the entire face. It also comes with smaller scars and less recovery time, making it an appealing option for those looking for subtle rejuvenation.

“If I ever go for it, Dr. Rosenberg would be my guy,” Ripa declared, praising her longtime plastic surgeon. She even joked that he’s like “the Taylor Swift” of the cosmetic surgery world because of his artistic approach.

Trusting the Right Surgeon

Ripa values Dr. Rosenberg’s honesty and ethical approach to cosmetic procedures. She revealed that during her first visit to his Beverly Hills office, he actually refused to do any unnecessary work on her face.

“He sent me away,” she admitted, appreciating his integrity.

Throughout their conversation, Ripa and Dr. Rosenberg also discussed the growing trend of people—particularly younger generations—turning to cosmetic procedures too soon.

The Impact of Social Media on Beauty Standards

The Live with Kelly and Mark host expressed concerns about how social media, filters, and high-definition cameras have contributed to an increase in body dysmorphia. Dr. Rosenberg agreed, pointing out how smartphone cameras distort facial features.

“Whatever’s closest to the lens looks bigger. That’s why we look like monsters,” he explained. “Steve Jobs really helped us plastic surgeons.”

Ripa also believes that people in their 20s are starting Botox and fillers far too early, which could lead to an unnatural appearance over time.

Kelly Ripa’s Surprising Weight Gain After Quitting Alcohol

Ripa’s conversation about cosmetic procedures comes just weeks after she opened up about an unexpected change in her body after quitting alcohol nearly eight years ago.

During an episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, she discussed her experience with guest host Andy Cohen, who mentioned that he was doing Dry January in hopes of losing weight.

Ripa then shared that when she gave up alcohol, she actually gained 12 pounds instead of losing weight, as many people assume.

“I expected there to be this windfall of weight loss because everyone says, ‘You’re going to get too skinny, you can’t afford to lose weight,’” she recalled. “But instead, I gained 12 pounds.”

She believes the weight gain happened because she replaced alcohol with sugary foods.

“I think I just took to eating the sugars,” she explained. “Apparently, alcohol is a lot of sugar, which you don’t really realize because when it goes in, it tastes kind of bitter.”

Ripa first revealed her decision to quit drinking in 2020, stating that she had been alcohol-free for nearly three years at the time.

A Commitment to Health and Beauty

Though Ripa has considered a mini facelift in the future, she maintains a healthy lifestyle to keep her skin youthful. She follows a mostly vegan diet, drinks coffee, and occasionally does an alkaline cleanse.

“I like to drink coffee. I occasionally have fish,” she told People in 2015. “The alkaline diet is primarily vegan, but I like cream in my coffee. I like to have a glass of wine.”

For now, Ripa is happy with her minimal approach to cosmetic treatments. But if she ever decides to go for a mini facelift, she knows exactly who she’ll trust to do it.
