Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are on a ticking clock if they want to rejoin the Royal family, an expert has claimed.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have become “irrelevant” to the remaining members of the Royal family according to the expert who says they are “running out of time.”
The comments from Richard Eden also stressed that Meghan and Harry are “not wanted” by the royal family.
Eden also claimed that for Harry there is only hope for his acceptance if he can be welcomed back by his father, King Charles.
He stressed how “time is running out to come back while his father is still King.”
Talking on Palace Confidential the Daily Mail diary editor said: “We saw that at Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012 where it was just Harry and his brother,
Camilla and Charles and of course, the queen.
Charles thought that when Harry had a family, they would be carrying out engagements and sharing those duties with William so, I think time is running out.”
Eden added that “if Harry wants to come back at any stage, he needs to do it while his father is still King.” However, he feels if William is King the reception for Harry will be a very frosty one. He confesed: “I really think that when Prince William is King, I can’t see him letting Harry come back and have a role again. They are irrelevant now, they are just not wanted as part of the monarchy, maybe there could be some radical change but it’s hard to see.”
Harry previously reflected on his decision to move to America as he said he and Meghan Markle left the UK “in fear for their sanity”. The couple stepped down from the Royal Family back in 2020 before creating a new life for themselves in Montecito, California. They’ve since opened up about life behind Palace walls and admitted it wasn’t always easy.
In his debut memoir Spare, the Duke of Sussex reflected on their move to America and revealed why they felt they had to go. Writing about a visit to Frogmore Cottage, he said: “How beautiful it all is, I thought. And also how sad.
“Once upon a time, this was going to be my forever home. Instead it had proved to be just another brief stop.” Harry had returned to Frogmore Cottage after Prince Philip’s funeral.
He added: “When my wife and I fled this place, in fear for our sanity and physical safety, I wasn’t sure when I’d ever come back. That was January 2020. Now, fifteen months later, here I was, days after waking to thirty-two missed calls and then one short, heart-racing talk with Granny: Harry… Grandpa s gone.”
Harry has since made a number of return visits to the UK. Most recently, he visited London to take part in various engagements related to the Invictus Games.
