Lady Gaga Slated For Launching Into ‘Odd, Meaningless, Cult-Like’ Woke Speech About Transgender Community at 2025 Grammy Awards — As She Drops New Single

At the 2024 Grammy Awards, Lady Gaga’s acceptance speech made waves, but not all responses were positive. The 38-year-old singer,

who won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance alongside Bruno Mars for their hit song *Die With a Smile*,

used her moment in the spotlight to address issues facing the transgender community.

Her comments came amid ongoing debates in the United States about the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly those within the transgender community.

Gaga, known for her advocacy for equality and self-expression, took the opportunity to speak out on behalf of marginalized communities, specifically trans people.

“I just want to say tonight that trans people are not invisible,” she stated, as she stood on stage with Mars, accepting her Grammy.

“Trans people deserve love. The queer community deserves to be lifted up.”

Her statement, although heartfelt and well-received by some in the audience, including major stars like Beyoncé and Billie Eilish, sparked a significant backlash on social media. Critics of Gaga’s comments quickly voiced their displeasure, accusing her of using the platform for “virtue signaling” and pushing a political agenda. One individual criticized Hollywood for promoting such views, stating, “Hollywood is a cult and we all see it now. America doesn’t want these ideas floating around anymore. Shut up and stop telling people what their morals should be. Just dance, monkey.” Another critic took issue with Gaga’s phrasing, asking, “‘The queer community deserves to be lifted up’ is an odd meaningless statement. Why do they deserve it? And lift up to where?”

Some social media users also expressed frustration over what they saw as unnecessary political commentary. “So lame,” one critic posted. “Why can’t they just entertain without the constant virtue signaling?” These reactions reveal the deeply polarized nature of the conversation surrounding LGBTQ+ rights in the U.S., especially regarding the transgender community. Gaga’s statements come amid a turbulent political climate, where issues such as gender-affirming care and transgender rights are fiercely contested.

The timing of Gaga’s speech is significant, given the controversial actions of former President Donald Trump, who, on the first day of his second presidential term, signed executive orders that notably restricted access to gender-affirming care for transgender minors and banned transgender individuals from serving in the military. Trump also reaffirmed that the United States would officially recognize only two genders: male and female, sparking further division on the matter.

While Gaga’s speech was undoubtedly polarizing, her remarks align with her long-standing advocacy for inclusivity and her vocal support for the LGBTQ+ community. In an industry often criticized for its lack of representation and support for marginalized groups, Gaga has consistently used her platform to address issues such as mental health, LGBTQ+ rights, and women’s empowerment.

In the aftermath of the Grammys, Lady Gaga released her new single, *Abracadabra*, which will be featured on her upcoming album, *Mayhem*. As her career continues to evolve, she also took the opportunity to reflect on her personal growth, particularly in terms of her health and lifestyle choices. During an interview with *Elle*, she revealed that she has turned her back on drugs and alcohol, something she previously struggled with. “I used to drink a lot and smoke a lot, and I was always looking for an out. I used to call it the trap door,” she shared, explaining that she has since found a new sense of peace and presence in her life.

Gaga further reflected on how her journey towards sobriety has influenced her creativity. “As an artist, it’s hard to go through that and not want to share that with my fans,” she said, suggesting that her personal transformation is now a key part of her artistic process. She also expressed gratitude for the stability she has found, noting, “It’s funny; sometimes I worry people will say I’m boring these days, but honestly thank God I’m boring. Thank God! Because I was living on the edge. I don’t know what was going to happen to me living that way.”

Despite some critics, Lady Gaga remains committed to using her voice to advocate for those who are often overlooked or silenced. Whether through her music, public statements, or personal reflections, she continues to show her dedication to supporting the LGBTQ+ community and promoting a more inclusive society. Her speech at the Grammys was yet another example of her willingness to speak out on important social issues, regardless of the backlash she might face.
