After the sacking of Darvin Ham, the Los Angeles Lakers are on the lookout for a new coach, and surprisingly, LeBron James is not involved in the process.
In an interview with Bleacher Report, Rich Paul, who is the founder of Klutch Sports and is LeBron James’s agent, stated that his client is not involved in the search for a new coach.
Specifically, Paul was asked about the possibility of J. J. Redick taking over the Lakers bench.
Despite the close friendship between James and Redick, Paul noted that James would not be responsible if Redick were eventually selected.
“There’s no controlling of the team,” Paul said about James. “And JJ is a friend. We respect JJ. I know LeBron and JJ have the podcast. I did JJ’s podcast.
Me and JJ talk hoops all the time. He does know hoops. But just because they have a podcast, the Lakers have to make a decision for now and later,” he continued.
“And whatever that decision is, that’ll be an organizational decision. It’s as simple as that,” he concluded on the subject.
Previously, it was heavily reported that Redick was the leading candidate for the Lakers bench. He and James have the “Mind the Game” podcast together.
