Lisa Riley proves there’s no hard feelings with Peter Kay as she attends his comedy show after his ‘weight jibe’ at fan he compared to the actress

Lisa Riley has made it clear that there are no hard feelings between her and comedian Peter Kay following the recent controversy in which he compared a heckling fan to the actress.

The situation, which unfolded at a Peter Kay comedy show, sparked backlash after the comedian kicked a woman out of his performance,

making a remark that some considered a jab at Lisa Riley.

The incident occurred during a performance at the AO Arena in Manchester, when a fan, Myar Curran, 25, was escorted out of the venue by security after shouting,

“We love you, Peter.” The comedian, who is known for his witty remarks, responded by shouting from the stage,

“Go on, off you go, Lisa Riley.” This comment quickly drew attention,

with many questioning whether the remark was a lighthearted joke or a critique of the fan’s appearance, particularly her weight.

In the aftermath, Myar Curran spoke out about the incident in interviews, saying she felt humiliated by Peter Kay’s comments. She described the experience as a “disgusting” one, explaining that she had been chanting her love for the comedian but was unfairly singled out. Myar felt that the comparison to Lisa Riley, who is known for her own weight loss journey, was a “weight jibe.” Despite feeling hurt by the situation, Myar stated she would not watch Peter Kay’s shows again, and emphasized that she did not expect an apology from him.

However, amidst the controversy, Lisa Riley has shown that she holds no ill will towards Peter Kay. The actress, known for her role in Emmerdale, attended Kay’s comedy show at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, and she shared photos with the comedian on social media after the gig. Lisa expressed her gratitude for the enjoyable night, writing on X (formerly Twitter), “THANK YOU so so so much Peter for the most fantastic night at @fdarena. We laughed until it hurt—the show is absolutely hilarious. We were up until way gone midnight reciting all the jokes. Northern at its absolute best. You are the best of the best. Love ya.”

Lisa’s message made it clear that there were no lingering hard feelings after the incident. Her supportive post indicated that she had moved on from any negativity surrounding the show. The actress’s attendance at Peter Kay’s show and her warm comments were seen by many as a gesture of solidarity, showing that the two were on good terms despite the controversy.

For his part, Peter Kay addressed the situation in a statement, defending his actions during the show. The comedian explained that the heckling disrupted the performance and that he had tried to manage the situation in a lighthearted manner, hoping the audience would settle down. He stated that his decision to remove the hecklers was not a personal attack but a necessary action to preserve the enjoyment of the rest of the crowd. “I did my best to address the situation and made light of it, as any comedian would,” Kay said. “Unfortunately, their interruptions continued, and I had to take action.”

Despite the public tension caused by the incident, Lisa Riley’s post reflects a sense of maturity and understanding in handling the situation. Rather than becoming embroiled in the drama, she chose to focus on the positive aspects of the experience, maintaining her friendly relationship with the comedian.

The incident with Myar Curran was just one of several disruptive moments during Peter Kay’s Manchester show. Two other audience members were also evicted after shouting the famous “garlic bread” line from Kay’s Phoenix Nights series, which became an iconic catchphrase. Myar, who had traveled from Scotland to attend the show, said that she had been looking forward to the event as a special bonding experience with her family, particularly as it was an event her late mother would have attended. Myar was devastated by the crowd’s reaction to her ejection and felt that the situation left her feeling isolated.

In the wake of the incident, Lisa Riley had previously posted a cryptic message on Instagram, sharing a quote about seeing the good in life and remaining positive despite challenges. This post seemed to be a subtle response to the controversy, as it encouraged people to focus on the positive aspects of life rather than succumbing to negativity.

Lisa Riley’s decision to publicly support Peter Kay shows that the actress is focused on maintaining a positive attitude, even in the face of controversy. Her relationship with Kay remains intact, and both continue to express mutual respect despite the brief public tension. As for the future, it appears that Lisa and Peter will continue to move forward, proving that sometimes, taking the high road can be the best way to handle difficult situations.
