Loose Women star Ruth Langsford has shared a positive update on her mother Joan’s health after a challenging few months.

The 94-year-old suffered a fall in December, fracturing her pelvis just months after previously breaking her hip.
Thankfully, Joan did not require surgery, but she did spend time in hospital for recovery.
By January, she was well enough to return home, reuniting with Ruth and the family dog, Maggie.

Ruth Praises Her Mother’s Strength

Taking to Instagram, Ruth posted a sweet update featuring her mother soaking up the sun, wearing a stylish gilet and sunglasses. She wrote:

“Thank you for all your kind enquiries about her… she’s recovering brilliantly after fracturing her pelvis in December. Charging around again on her walker like a good ‘un! Hope I’ll have her grit and energy when I’m 94! LEGEND.”
Joan received care at Woking Community Hospital and St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey, and Ruth expressed gratitude for the medical staff who assisted in her recovery.
Christmas Wasn’t the Same Without Joan
The ordeal had a significant impact on Ruth, particularly over Christmas, when her mother was unable to participate in their usual festive traditions. Reflecting on the experience, Ruth previously shared:
“No dancing in my kitchen peeling the veg for my darling Mum this Christmas. This time last year she fell and broke her hip but recovered well… she’s a very strong woman, so I’m sure she’ll recover from this too. Puts life and what’s important into perspective, eh?”

Despite the difficult holiday season, Joan’s resilience and determination have been inspiring, and she appears to be making a remarkable recovery.
This update follows a recent health struggle for Ruth herself, who previously revealed she had been housebound for several days due to illness. However, with her mother back home and on the mend, it seems brighter days are ahead for the Loose Women star and her family.
