Love Island’s Olivia Bowen in tears as she announces gender of baby after heartache

Olivia Bowen, former Love Island star, became emotional during her appearance on ITV’s Loose Women this Tuesday as she reflected on her recent pregnancy heartbreak.

The reality TV personality revealed the bittersweet news that she and her husband, Alex Bowen,

are expecting a baby girl, following the devastating loss of one of their expected twins.

The couple, who found love on Love Island in 2016 and are already parents to two-year-old son Abel, initially shared their twin pregnancy news with fans last month in a heartfelt video.

However, Olivia later disclosed the tragic loss of one of the twins, describing the experience as a painful mix of sorrow and gratitude.

While she expressed immense joy in carrying “one safe, healthy baby,” she also admitted to enduring “excruciating pain and trauma” from the loss.

During her emotional interview, Loose Women host Christine Lampard offered Olivia support as she broke down. However, the mood shifted to one of celebration when Olivia, Alex, and their son Abel joyfully shared a gender reveal video, confirming they are expecting a daughter. The studio audience erupted in applause, embracing the touching moment with the growing family.

Before revealing their baby’s gender, Olivia and Alex opened up about the moment they discovered they were expecting twins during an early six-week scan. Olivia admitted she was initially anxious about the scan but was shocked and delighted when she saw not one but two babies on the screen. Given her family’s history with twins, she had mixed emotions about the unexpected news. While Alex expressed excitement, Olivia acknowledged her worries about the risks associated with twin pregnancies.

The couple spent the following two weeks joyfully preparing for their expanding family, researching baby essentials such as car seats and nursery arrangements. However, their excitement turned to heartbreak at their eight-week scan when they were informed that one of the twins had not survived. Olivia tearfully explained the occurrence of “vanishing twin syndrome,” a phenomenon where one twin is absorbed into the mother’s body, leaving no outward symptoms or warning signs.

“I had no pain, no bleeding, nothing to indicate that anything was wrong,” Olivia shared, revealing the immense shock they felt when learning the devastating news. “We walked in expecting to see two babies, and suddenly, one was gone.”

Despite the pain, Olivia has found comfort in knowing that the lost twin’s cells remain a part of her, helping her cope with the grief. The couple is now focused on raising awareness about miscarriage and pregnancy loss, aiming to reduce the stigma surrounding these experiences.

Their story has resonated deeply with fans, many of whom have praised Olivia for her vulnerability and strength in sharing her journey. As they look ahead to welcoming their baby girl, Olivia and Alex remain grateful for their growing family while honoring the memory of the baby they lost.
