Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa are embracing a new phase in their lives as empty nesters.

With all three of their children now grown and living independently, the Live with Kelly & Mark co-hosts have been adjusting to a quieter household.
During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Consuelos opened up about one particular habit he has developed since their kids moved out
and it’s something most parents might not expect.

Making the Most of the Empty House

While speaking with late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, Consuelos admitted that he has taken to using his children’s bathrooms now that they are no longer at home.

“[Their rooms are] pretty much exactly how they left them,” he shared. “But I’ve been going around and using their bathrooms.”
When asked why he suddenly started doing this, Consuelos had a simple yet humorous response:
“Because we paid for the house, and I’ve never sat there, so I wanted to sit there.”
His wife, Kelly Ripa, couldn’t help but chime in with her own reaction. “And, I, for one, am thankful,” she joked.

Adjusting to the Empty Nest
Consuelos and Ripa are parents to three adult children—Michael, 27, Lola, 23, and Joaquin, 22. With their kids all out of the house, the couple has had to adjust to a new routine after years of parenting full-time.
While Consuelos is making the most of his newfound freedom, Ripa has also spoken openly about the emotional and practical changes that come with being an empty nester.
In a People cover story published in September 2022, the longtime morning show host reflected on how different life feels now that their children have moved out.

“It’s scary, thrilling, liberating, shocking… and quiet,” Ripa admitted. She also mentioned how even basic tasks, like making dinner, have required an adjustment.
“I didn’t know how to make dinner proportionally,” she shared. “Now, it’s 10 p.m. and we’ll eat.”
Enjoying Life Together
Although becoming empty nesters can be an emotional transition for many parents, Ripa and Consuelos seem to be embracing this new chapter in their lives with humor and gratitude. The couple, who have been married for nearly three decades, often share funny and heartfelt anecdotes about their marriage and family life on Live with Kelly & Mark.

From Consuelos’ newfound love of his kids’ bathrooms to Ripa’s candid take on cooking for just two people, they continue to navigate this phase of life with the same chemistry and humor that fans love.
While their children may have left the nest, it’s clear that Ripa and Consuelos are making the most of their time together—one bathroom visit at a time.
