Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are tipped to hold a special celebration in the US on the Fourth of July, as Britain rushes to the polls for the General Election.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will join millions of other Americans to celebrate Independence Day with their nearest and dearest,
including their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Each year Americans celebrate July 4 as the day they became independent from British rule in the 18th century.
Previously, the couple, who reside in Montecito, California, have spent the holiday in their hometown as well as other parts of the country.
The pair spectated the Montecito Association’s Village Road Show,
with Harry wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap, and his youngest child wearing a blue paisley-print summer dress.
In 2022, the family were seen watching the parade in the Jackson Hole valley in Wyoming, while visiting friends.
Meanwhile, the American celebration holds a special place in Harry’s heart as one of his first dates with his now-wife took place on the Fourth of July back in 2016.
The duke opened up about the date in his memoir, Spare, released in January 2023.
Harry wrote: “This time I was already there – waiting. Smiling. Proud of myself. [Meghan] walked in, wearing a pretty blue sundress with white pinstripes. She was aglow. I stood and said: ‘I bear gifts.’
“A pink box. I held it forward. She shook it. ‘What’s this?’ ‘No, no, don’t shake it!’ We both laughed.
“She opened the box. Cupcakes. Red, white and blue cupcakes, to be exact. In honour of Independence Day. I said something about the Brits having a very different view of Independence Day from the Yanks, but, oh, well. She said they looked amazing.”
