Melissa reveals that Reba’s character is humorous but internally harbors many concerns. “She confides in me every night” (video)

Fans who have been clamoring for a Reba reboot will have to settle for an entirely new Reba McEntire sitcom instead.

Not a bad tradeoff! It was reported in January that the country superstar would headline a multi-camera comedy pilot at NBC.

But we now know that the series, called Happy’s Place, has received a full season order.

As if that wasn’t thrilling enough, the show will reunite McEntire with Reba costar Melissa Peterman.

The show centers around McEntire’s character, Bobbie, a woman who “inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover.

That she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had,” per the series’ official logline.

No. But it will reunite that show’s EPs: Kevin Abbott will executive produce the pilot alongside Michael Hanel and Mindy Schultheis, who will be non-writing exec producers. (These three also worked in varying capacities on McEntire’s ABC show Malibu Country, which only ran for one season between 2012 and 2013.) New to the mix is Julie Abbott, who will also serve as a non-writing EP.

The Voice judge plays the lead role of Bobbie, who learns she has a half sister after inheriting her father’s restaurant.

Hocus Pocus 2 actress Belissa Escobedo takes on the part of Isabella, Bobbie’s half-sister who rubs her elder sibling the wrong way. Isabella is in her 20s, devoted to pop-psychology and determined to revitalize the restaurant with her “great” ideas.

McEntire’s former costar, who played Barbra Jean on Reba, joins the cast as Gabby, the restaurant’s “needy and dramatic” bartender who inserts herself into Bobbie’s life.

Peterman confirmed she was joining the show with an enthusiastic Instagram post shared on March 18, 2024. “This. This is why I have been smiling ALL the time,” she wrote. “I am thrilled to share the news that I get another chance to work with my friends. Buckle up @reba We are going to have some fun!”

The cast also includes Pablo Castelblanco as the tavern’s accountant, Steve, Tokala Black Elk as a waiter named Takoda and Rex Linn as the cook.

The show does not yet have an exact release date, but it’s set to air during the 2024-25 broadcast season.

There sure is! The show looks like fun.
