Michael Strahan retirement statements in full and FOX NFL Sunday hint as $20m hole opens up

Michael Strahan has always been known for his humor, charm, and ability to keep his Good Morning America co-hosts entertained with his candid storytelling.

Over the years, the former NFL star-turned-TV personality has shared many personal anecdotes, and his latest revelation was no exception.

During a recent segment on GMA, Strahan, along with Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos, welcomed comedian and bestselling author Chelsea Handler.

While the focus of the conversation was her latest book and upcoming Netflix special,

the interview took an unexpected and amusing turn when Strahan shared a childhood nickname that left everyone in stitches.

Michael Strahan’s Childhood Nickname Has Everyone in Laughs

As the interview progressed, Handler reflected on a defining moment in her career, recalling how legendary actress Jane Fonda once called her in for a difficult but necessary conversation about her behavior. While initially taken aback, Handler explained that Fonda’s honesty helped her grow and become more self-aware, inspiring her to do the same for others.

Strahan, clearly amused by Handler’s story, took the opportunity to reveal that Jane Fonda had also played an unexpected role in his life—though in a completely different way. With a big smile, he confessed that, as a kid, he was given the nickname “BOB,” which stood for “Big Ol’ Butt” and “Booty on Back.”

The moment he said it, the studio erupted in laughter. George Stephanopoulos, in particular, couldn’t contain his amusement, and even an off-camera crew member was heard chuckling. Strahan, never one to shy away from a funny memory, took it in stride and elaborated on how the nickname led to a surprising solution.

“I bought Jane Fonda tapes, and I had to work out to Jane Fonda to lose my butt,” he admitted, adding an extra layer of humor to the story.

His co-hosts were completely entertained, with Robin Roberts jokingly remarking that she would need to “think about that” before moving on to wrap up the interview.

Chelsea Handler Invites Strahan to Her Podcast

While the conversation had its fair share of laughs, Handler also took a moment to extend an invitation to Strahan. She revealed that she would love for him to be a guest on her podcast, where she takes calls from real-life people and offers them advice.

Strahan, intrigued by the idea, quickly agreed, saying they would have to make it happen. Handler playfully responded that her real goal in coming on GMA was simply to secure Strahan as her next guest.

The interaction was just another example of Strahan’s easygoing and fun-loving nature. Whether on GMA or Fox NFL Sunday, he always finds ways to engage audiences while keeping the mood light.

Strahan’s Influence Beyond Television

While Strahan is best known today for his work in television, his career spans far beyond the small screen. After an incredible NFL career with the New York Giants, where he became a Super Bowl champion and Pro Football Hall of Famer, he smoothly transitioned into broadcasting. His charisma and relatability have made him a household name, earning him roles on Good Morning America, Fox NFL Sunday, and various other television projects.

But beyond entertainment, Strahan is also deeply involved in philanthropy and business. His company, SMAC Entertainment, has helped produce meaningful projects, including Life Interrupted: Isabella Strahan’s Battle Against Cancer, a powerful documentary created in collaboration with ABC News. The film sheds light on the experiences of those battling serious illnesses, demonstrating Strahan’s dedication to using his platform for good.

A Story Fans Won’t Forget

Strahan’s ability to share lighthearted yet personal stories is one of the many reasons fans adore him. His childhood nickname revelation not only provided a hilarious moment on GMA, but also showed that even successful figures like him have had their fair share of playful teasing.

Whether he’s reminiscing about his past, supporting charitable initiatives, or keeping his co-hosts laughing, Strahan continues to be a beloved figure in both sports and entertainment. His latest story is just another reminder of why audiences can’t get enough of him—he’s always ready to laugh at himself and bring joy to those around him.
