Miranda Lambert talks about why she chose Texas as the location for ‘Very Country’: ‘It reminds me of my family’ (video)

Miranda Lambert is sticking with what she knows for her upcoming album.

The musician, 40, spoke exclusively with PEOPLE at the Lone River Collective event in Frisco, Texas, earlier this week.

Where she revealed that her next album will be “very country.”

“I made this record in Texas. I hadn’t made an album in Texas since I was 18,” Lambert said.

“I went down to Arlyn Studios in Austin, and Jon Randall, who’s my bestie and co-writer and co-producer, we worked together a lot.”

“Just going home to Texas to make it felt really right for this new season and this new chapter,” she continued.

“I signed with Republic Records … and this new team has just given me so much fire and inspiration, because it’s all about the music with them.”

Added Lambert: “I’m really excited to share [the new music]. It’s very country. You can tell we made it in Texas.”

Lambert released the first taste of her upcoming LP through her fiery track “Wranglers” on May 3. The album will mark her first new solo music since she dropped Palomino in 2022.

The county superstar announced that she was leaving Sony Music after 20 years in 2023. She later revealed that she signed with Republic Records in partnership with Big Loud this past April.

Lambert said in an Instagram post that the two labels “are bringing such energy,” adding, “They appreciate music, they appreciate art, and they’d give me the freedom to create and stay true to myself.”

The “Mama’s Broken Heart” singer recently wrapped her latest Las Vegas residency, Velvet Rodeo, on April 6.

While Lambert waits to release her upcoming album, her partnership with Lone River Ranch Water is keeping her busy.

Speaking about the hard seltzer and its founder, Katie Beal Brown, the Grammy Award winner told PEOPLE, “First of all, I love her. She’s a female founder, she has a cocktail in a can … and she’s from Texas, so that’s three strikes of greatness. I feel very lucky.”

“When we met, we just really got along. She’s cool and chill, and just I believe in what she does,” she continued. “I just enjoy her personality and what she stands for, and so this felt like a great match.”

Lambert said the brand reminds her of summertime and when she would go to Guadalupe River in South Texas with her family throughout the years.

“Ranch Water is a perfect drink for that situation,” she explained.
