Ruth Langsford appeared to make a surprising remark about her ex-husband, Eamonn Holmes, during a recent episode of Loose Women.

The television presenter, 64, reflected on the birth of their son Jack, now 22, in a conversation about childbirth and midwifery.
While sharing her experience, she playfully commented that Eamonn “did what he could,” a remark that left both the panel and the audience amused.
A Lighthearted Dig During a Candid Discussion

The moment unfolded as the panelists discussed whether they remembered their midwives. Ruth fondly recalled her own, Maria,

who was a significant part of her birth experience and whom she remained close to until Maria’s passing.

“My midwife Maria, who sadly passed away, was incredible. We stayed in touch, and she even came to Jack’s birthday parties when he was young,” Ruth shared.
She then added, “I just remember feeling that Maria and I birthed Jack… I mean, Eamonn was there, and he did what he could in that moment.”
The unexpected comment sparked laughter from fellow panelist Myleene Klass and some of the audience members, as it came across as a cheeky dig at her ex-husband.
Ruth continued to praise her midwife’s role in the delivery process, explaining how Maria’s words of encouragement kept her going. “I could hear her voice, guiding me through it. She had birthed so many babies, and I was just focusing on her, trusting her to get me through.”
Life After Divorce: Ruth Embraces a New Chapter
Ruth and Eamonn, who co-hosted This Morning together for 15 years, shocked fans when they announced their split in May last year. Their relationship had lasted 27 years, with 14 of those spent as a married couple.

Since the breakup, Ruth has gradually opened up about how she is coping. In a recent interview, she admitted that while she wasn’t happy about the marriage ending, she has come to terms with it.
“I’m not delighted my marriage is over, but I’ve accepted it,” she said. “Divorce is very painful. Most people don’t have to go through it in the public eye, where everyone has an opinion. But that’s part of my job. You either cope with it or you don’t.”
Despite the challenges, Ruth is looking ahead to the future and isn’t ruling out finding love again. “I’m fine being on my own, but not forever. Relationship breakdowns are tough, but you deal with them and move on,” she added.
Eamonn’s New Romance and Health Struggles
While Ruth is navigating her newly single life, Eamonn has moved on and gone public with his new partner, relationship counselor Katie Alexander, 42. The pair were first spotted together in October, and friends have speculated that a proposal could be on the horizon.
Eamonn, 65, has been facing ongoing mobility issues, frequently relying on a wheelchair. His health struggles have been well-documented, with him openly discussing his chronic pain and difficulty walking.

Ruth’s Career Flourishes Post-Split
Despite the personal upheaval, Ruth has continued to thrive professionally. She remains a regular host on Loose Women, appearing twice a week, and has also taken on additional work with the shopping channel QVC. Her hard work paid off, as she reportedly earned £2.5 million last year.
On top of her career success, Ruth recently revealed she has lost weight, though she attributed it not just to the stress of divorce but also to making positive health changes. “Divorce obviously has something to do with it, but I also went for a hormone rebalance, which helped,” she shared.

A New Beginning
As Ruth embraces this new phase of her life, she continues to focus on her career and well-being. While her quip about Eamonn may have been playful, it reflected the evolving nature of their relationship post-divorce.
Whether she finds love again or enjoys her independence for now, Ruth remains determined to move forward, proving that even after heartbreak, there’s always a chance for a fresh start.
