Nicolas Cage’s ex breaks her silence after suing him over son Weston’s ‘vicious attack’ on her

Christina Fulton, actress and former partner of Nicolas Cage, has broken her silence following the lawsuit she filed against the Longlegs star.

The legal action stems from an alleged assault by their son, Weston Cage, 34, which reportedly left Fulton with severe injuries.

Speaking outside a Los Angeles courthouse on Monday, the 57-year-old actress expressed her heartbreak over the situation,

claiming she has been left to deal with the ordeal alone.

Holding Nicolas Cage Accountable

Before entering the courthouse, Fulton addressed the media, stating that she had been “heartbroken for a very long time” over how she had been treated by both her son and the Los Angeles Police Department.

She alleged that, following the assault, officers left her “on the ground, bleeding” without offering proper assistance.

Fulton also pointed fingers at Nicolas Cage, asserting that the 61-year-old actor could have done much more to intervene in their son’s struggles. “He’s Weston’s father, and he could have done a hell of a lot more to protect me and ensure our son got the help he needed,” she stated.

Allegations of Neglect and Enabling Behavior

Fulton, who was in a relationship with Cage from 1988 to 1991, has claimed that the actor has enabled Weston’s behavior for years. She argues that his lack of action contributed to their son’s erratic and dangerous conduct.

“I have tried to help Weston, but I’ve been blocked at every turn,” she said, implying that Cage’s influence has prevented her from ensuring her son received necessary treatment.

Despite the allegations, Fulton made it clear that she still loves her son but believes he needs “tough love” to address his issues. She described him as being in a “manic rage” at the time of the attack and emphasized that his actions were a result of an ongoing mental health crisis.

Legal Action Against Cage and Their Son

Earlier this month, Fulton filed a civil lawsuit in the Superior Court of California, Los Angeles County, naming both Nicolas Cage and Weston Cage as defendants. She is suing Cage for “negligent supervision and negligent undertaking,” arguing that he failed to take necessary steps to prevent their son from causing harm. Additionally, she has filed claims against Weston for assault, battery, and infliction of emotional distress.

According to Fulton’s complaint, the alleged attack occurred in April 2024 near Weston’s home. She described the incident as a brutal and unprovoked assault, leaving her with severe and life-threatening injuries.

Following the altercation, Weston was arrested in July 2024 on charges of assault with a deadly weapon. He was later released on a $150,000 bond and has since pleaded not guilty.

Nicolas Cage’s Response to the Lawsuit

After news of the lawsuit broke, Cage’s legal team swiftly dismissed Fulton’s claims, labeling them as “absurd and frivolous.” His attorney argued that Cage has no control over Weston’s actions, as he is a 34-year-old adult responsible for his own behavior.

“Mr. Cage does not control Weston’s behavior in any manner and is not responsible for his alleged assault of his mother,” the statement read.

However, Fulton insists that Cage’s past actions—or lack thereof—have contributed to the situation. The lawsuit details allegations that the Leaving Las Vegas actor bailed his son out of jail multiple times, covered his rent, and failed to ensure he received adequate psychiatric treatment. It also claims that Cage has a history of drinking alcohol with his son despite being aware of his struggles with substance abuse.

A Mother’s Plea for Change

As Fulton continues her legal battle, she is also using her platform to bring awareness to what she describes as a “mental health crisis epidemic.” She expressed her desire to support other mothers in similar situations while also pushing for her son to receive the help he needs.

“I love my son, and I want what’s best for him,” she said. “But we cannot keep ignoring these issues. People need to be held accountable.”

When asked about the current status of her relationship with Weston, Fulton offered a short but telling response: “We’re in court.”

The Road Ahead

With the lawsuit moving forward, both parties remain entrenched in their respective positions. Fulton continues to seek justice and accountability, while Cage maintains that he is not responsible for Weston’s actions. Meanwhile, Weston’s legal proceedings regarding the assault charges are still ongoing, and it remains to be seen what consequences, if any, he will face.

As the case unfolds, the allegations against Cage have sparked discussions about parental responsibility, mental health, and the legal obligations of family members when dealing with troubled loved ones. Regardless of the outcome, Fulton’s lawsuit has undoubtedly shed light on a deeply personal and painful family matter that is now playing out on a public stage.
