Piers Morgan didn’t hold back in his criticism of Captain Tom Moore’s daughter, Hannah Ingram-Moore,

after her tense interview on Good Morning Britain (GMB) on March 7.
The interview, which was her first live TV appearance since the Charity Commission found her guilty of mismanaging her father’s charity foundation,
sparked a fiery exchange, drawing strong reactions from both the public and Morgan himself.

Hannah appeared on the ITV morning show to discuss the controversy surrounding her handling of the Captain Tom Foundation.

During the interview, which was conducted by presenters Rob Rinder and Kate Garraway, Ingram-Moore was pressed for details regarding the charity and the profits from her father’s book deals.

She defended her actions, stating that there was never a contract linking the charity to her father’s book deals and that all proceeds from the books went to him. According to Ingram-Moore, her father had personally signed the book deal and managed the finances independently, without the charity benefiting from the sales.
“There was never a contract with the charity. He lived with us. We didn’t think of him as a diminished man,” she explained, adding that Captain Tom made decisions about where the book money went. “Not a penny was received by him and us when those books went on sale.”

Despite her defense, Rob Rinder wasn’t satisfied with the explanations. He relentlessly questioned her, asking for direct answers and highlighting what he perceived as inconsistencies. At one point, Rinder pressed, “But you said you lost grip of the truth. You lost control of it,” demanding, “I am asking you for the truth here.”
Hannah’s response, which included the claim that she couldn’t “persuade everyone to believe our reality,” seemed to fuel the tension even further. Rinder accused her of being “shameless,” prompting an intense back-and-forth during which Hannah appeared to struggle to convince the audience of her sincerity.

Piers Morgan, who has often been outspoken on issues involving public figures, took to social media to express his fury after the interview. On his X (formerly Twitter) account, Morgan did not mince words in condemning Hannah’s actions. He described her as a “shameless lying grifter,” accusing her of exploiting her father’s name for personal gain. “Great work @RobbieRinder – Ms Ingram-Moore is a shameless lying grifter, and poor Captain Tom will be turning in his grave at her appalling ongoing exploitation of his good name,” Morgan wrote in his post, throwing his support behind Rob Rinder’s handling of the interview.
The emotional and contentious nature of the interview only added to the growing controversy surrounding the Captain Tom Foundation. Last year, the Charity Commission found that Hannah and her family had mismanaged the charity, leading to public backlash and questions about their handling of funds. Despite the criticism, Ingram-Moore has continued to defend her actions, insisting that there was no intentional dishonesty involved.

In a separate interview, Hannah expressed regret over establishing the charity in her father’s name. “It didn’t need to be set up as a charity,” she admitted. “We could have continued that legacy without it, because what it’s done is all but completely derailed our lives.” She explained that the charity had been created with the best intentions but had ultimately led to unforeseen complications. “There is nothing dishonest about what happened,” she insisted, adding that she felt sorry that the public felt misled, but she maintained that the family never intended to deceive anyone.
While Ingram-Moore’s statements may have been aimed at calming the storm, they did little to quell the growing anger and skepticism surrounding the situation. For Piers Morgan, her comments only added fuel to the fire, leading him to publicly label her a “shameless lying grifter” for what he sees as an ongoing exploitation of her father’s legacy.

As the controversy surrounding Captain Tom’s foundation continues to unfold, the public’s perception of the Ingram-Moore family’s actions remains divided. With figures like Piers Morgan vocally criticizing the situation and GMB presenting a platform for further scrutiny, it seems that the debate over the charity’s mismanagement is far from over.
