Piers Morgan issues ‘breaking news’ as he announces shock GMB return

Piers Morgan is set to make a dramatic return to Good Morning Britain (GMB) nearly four years after his unforgettable storm-off from the ITV breakfast show.

The outspoken broadcaster surprised fans with the announcement, marking his first appearance on the program since his controversial departure in 2021.

Morgan’s Surprise Announcement

Taking to social media, the 59-year-old journalist and TV personality made the revelation in his signature bold style. He posted:

“BREAKING: It’s been nearly 4yrs (1,453 days to be precise!) since I departed @GMB rather hastily…

but tomorrow morning, for the first time, I’m going back. I’ll be on with @susannareid100 & @edballs at 8.15am.”

The announcement quickly ignited a frenzy among his followers, with mixed reactions flooding in.

Some expressed excitement over his return, while others were skeptical about the move. One critic questioned, “Going back to do what? Thought you said that channel is part of the woke MSM so you won’t be a part ever again.” Meanwhile, another suggested a grand re-entrance, saying, “They should start with you walking back in with that same suit & then taking one of the seats you used to sit in.”

Others took a more lighthearted approach, with one supporter urging Morgan to “flex on your compared ratings,” referring to his success on TalkTV. However, not everyone was thrilled, with one viewer sarcastically commenting, “Ah, fantastic. Piers back on GMB after 1,453 days—because clearly, Britain hasn’t been punished enough this week.”

The Infamous GMB Walkout

Morgan’s return to GMB is particularly significant given the way he exited the show. Back in March 2021, he walked off set following a heated clash with weather presenter Alex Beresford over comments regarding Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex.

The confrontation occurred after Morgan repeatedly voiced skepticism about Meghan’s claims of struggling with mental health and racism within the Royal Family. Beresford called him out, saying:

“I understand that you don’t like Meghan Markle, you’ve made it so clear a number of times on this programme, and I understand you’ve got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she cut you off. She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don’t think she has, but yet you continue to trash her.”

The remark appeared to strike a nerve with Morgan, who abruptly stood up and left the studio, declaring, “OK, I’m done with this, sorry, no, can’t do this.”

Beresford, visibly unimpressed, called his actions “pathetic” and “diabolical.” The fallout from the incident led to Morgan’s departure from GMB, with ITV confirming his exit shortly afterward.

Life After GMB

Following his departure, Morgan quickly rebounded by securing a new role at TalkTV, where he launched his own show, Piers Morgan Uncensored. The program has given him a platform to continue his controversial takes on current affairs, politics, and celebrity culture.

Despite leaving ITV under contentious circumstances, Morgan has never shied away from discussing his past with GMB, often taking jabs at his former employers and criticizing what he sees as overly “woke” media narratives. His unexpected return is, therefore, a significant and unexpected moment for both him and the show.

What to Expect from His Return

Morgan will be joining co-hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls at 8:15 am for what is expected to be a must-watch segment. Whether his return is a one-time appearance or a sign of further collaborations with ITV remains to be seen.

Given his history with the show, viewers can expect no shortage of fireworks when he steps back into the GMB studio. Whether it will be a moment of reconciliation or another controversial headline in the making is something fans will have to tune in to witness.
