Reba humorously shares about coach John Legend’s hidden personality: “He’s like a crying child who needs motherly care” (video)

On her 2010 song “Cry”, Reba McEntire declared, “I’m not gonna cry, not one single drop/’Cause once I get started out, I may never stop”.

That lyric may have been running through the heads of the judges during an emotional final night of knockout rounds on season 24 of The Voice.

Thankfully, Reba was there to lend the judges a few tissues.

Lennon VanderDoes made John Legend cry so much he could barely speak after his performance of “I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Mraz.

Legend wasn’t alone, either. Gwen Stefani started tearing up, too, and even Niall Horan could be seen possibly brushing away a tear or two during the song.

Thankfully, Reba was there fully stocked with tissues and handed them out to all of her fellow coaches.

“I hope you realize that’s the biggest compliment another artist can give you, is to sit there and cry,” Reba told VanderDoes after his song. “Because you touched John to his core.”

“You made us both cry!” added Stefani. “It was so moving because it was done so intentionally with the lyrics. There’s no winner.”

However, because The Voice is a competition, in the end, someone had to choose a winner. This time it was Horan and, while he was moved by VanderDoes’ performance, he ultimately sent him home, opting to keep fan favorite Alexa Wildish, who sang a mesmerizing slowed-down version of Cher’s “Believe”.

VanderDoes may not be gone for long, though. According to NBC, for the first time in 24 seasons, the coaches on The Voice may be able to bring back a previously eliminated contestant. If that’s the case, Reba might need more tissues.

The Voice airs Monday and Tuesday nights on NBC at 8 p.m. ET.
