The pair were last seen acting together in the 68-year-old’s self-titled sitcom, Reba, on The WB, now known as The CW.
The Voice coach played a fictionalized version of herself with the last name Hart and Melissa, 52, played Reba’s ex-husband’s new wife Barbra Jean.
This time, the two women will play characters in similar roles in terms of their antagonizing each other.
According to Deadline, Reba will play Bobbie, a woman who inherits her father’s restaurant.
She isn’t happy to find out, however, that her new business partner is her half-sister Gabby.
Melissa will play Gabby, a bartender who has worked at the restaurant for a while.
She headed to Instagram to share her thoughts on the casting announcement.
“This. This is why I have been smiling ALL the time. I am thrilled to share the news that I get another chance to work with my friends. Buckle up @reba We are going to have some fun! Congratulations @belissae!!!” she captioned a screenshot of the Deadline article.
Meanwhile, Belissa, 25, will play Bobbie’s sister named Isabella who is working at the restaurant.
Though both Reba and Melissa have both had roles on CBS’s Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory, they had not yet appeared on-screen together.
The Voice star Reba McEntire’s massive salary revealed as execs plan to slash coaches’ paychecks during ‘budget cuts’
There’s no name for the new NBC sitcom just yet, and no concrete date set for it to air.
This additional information and casting decision comes after Reba’s announcement in January that she would be appearing on a new show.
Reba recently set things straight regarding an interactions she reportedly had with Taylor Swift.
The Voice coach headed to Instagram to make sure the truth was out there.
She had shared a fake Facebook article circulating on the social media network to her social media account.
The America Loves Liberty page had claimed that Reba had seen Taylor, 34, “lauging, drinking, and making a mockery of the event” while at the Super Bowl.
As a result, the country star was reportedly “disappointed” in Taylor.
Reba had been tapped to sing the National Anthem ahead of the event.
She reportedly said she “let Taylor have it” and called the pop star “an entitled little brat.”
But Reba stated that this never happened and cautioned fans not to believe everything they see online.
“I did not say this. Taylor is a wonderful artist, strong role model and has done so much good for so many people and the music industry.”
The fake post even misspelled her last name as “McIntire.”
Fans headed to Reba’s social media page to support the singer.
“Auntie Reba is nonproblematic. Leave her alone,” one said.
“I love Reba. There’s nothing fake about her,” replied another.
“They spelled your name McIntire. So made up story and a lazy proofreader!” wrote another.
“Set them straight, Reba!” added a fourth.
