This year, the Pam Minick Lifetime Achievement Award wanted to raise the bar. 

They were looking for someone who loved Dear Rodeo, was a little bit Fancy and knew that Cowgirls Don’t Cry.

Reba McEntire was the perfect choice. Whether it’s her acknowledgment of her time as a barrel racer or wearing her dad’s World Championship buckle at the Super Bowl.

No one has shined a bigger spotlight on women in rodeo than her.

“This is really, really special, being a GRA (Girls Rodeo Association) member back in the day was my dream come true because I always wanted to be a World Champion Barrel Racer. 

Didn’t make that, but to represent the girls in rodeo and rodeo itself, being a third generation rodeo brat, this means a lot to me.”

The Pam Minick Lifetime Achievement Award began in 2023 as a way to recognize female leaders leaders.

Who have made outstanding contributions and to Western sports and elevated cowgirls.

“Growing up as the daughter of a World Champion steer wrestler, loving the rodeo industry.

Reba McEntire became an entertainment icon from the work ethic and traditions she learned from her western heritage,” Linsay Rosser Sumpter, Commissioner of the Women’s Rodeo World Championship said in a release. “We are honored to celebrate Reba and her passion for the Western industry. She’s the perfect representative for cowgirls and encourages them to strive to compete on a larger scale. With the popularity of the Western lifestyle, Reba has shown our industry what it means to have the heart of a champion cowgirl and gives all cowgirls permission to have the same try in any aspect of life.”
