Robbie Williams ‘Better Man’ Haters Going Apes*** …Couple Wed by Brit at Screening Defends Biopic

Haldun Uluç Ülgen and his fiancée Amy Willoughby aren’t bothered by the negative buzz surrounding Robbie Williams’ biopic *Better Man*

in fact, they’re embracing the film’s quirks and flaws, even if it didn’t quite make a splash at the box office.

In an exclusive interview with TMZ, the couple opened up about their love for the movie, their upcoming wedding,

and how they’re taking everything in stride, including the movie’s critics.

The biopic, which stars Williams as a fictionalized version of himself, has not fared well with critics

and has faced harsh criticism for its CGI-heavy scenes, including a peculiar monkey character.

Despite its box office underperformance, Haldun and Amy remain staunch supporters of the film, finding value in its creativity and originality. Haldun admitted he was surprised the movie didn’t perform better at the box office, but he believes the lackluster reception is largely due to audiences’ reluctance to step outside of their comfort zones and try something new. He also acknowledged that Robbie Williams’ star power doesn’t quite resonate the same way in the U.S. as it does in the UK, where Williams is a household name.

The couple takes particular issue with the online trend of bashing the film simply because it’s become the latest “flop” to criticize. Haldun pointed out that many of the film’s detractors have yet to actually watch it, making their opinions on the movie irrelevant. Despite the initial negative reviews, Haldun is optimistic that *Better Man* will find a second life once it hits streaming platforms. He believes that all the attention—both negative and curious—will lead to more people watching the movie, which he predicts will eventually develop a cult following. “It’s a strange monkey film, but I’m calling it now—a future cult classic in the making!” he confidently declared.

While the movie’s reception has dominated recent headlines, another aspect of Haldun and Amy’s life has also grabbed attention—an impromptu “wedding” ceremony performed by none other than Robbie Williams himself. The couple explained that while the ceremony wasn’t legally binding, it was a fun and meaningful moment. Haldun clarified that the official wedding was already set for June 4, when they plan to marry at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas. The venue holds special significance for the couple, as Robbie Williams famously mentions the hotel in his song “Me and My Monkey.” Haldun joked that it was only fitting to have their wedding at the “ape-approved venue” given the song’s reference, adding a lighthearted touch to their wedding plans.

For the couple, Robbie’s involvement in their journey is a special connection, and they don’t let the film’s commercial setbacks affect their excitement about their future together. Haldun and Amy’s relationship with Robbie has only strengthened their appreciation for the movie, and the impromptu wedding added another layer of meaning to an already memorable time in their lives.

Despite the controversy surrounding *Better Man*, Haldun and Amy’s perspective on the film highlights their ability to appreciate art for its uniqueness, even when it doesn’t fit into mainstream expectations. As they eagerly await their Vegas wedding, the couple is ready to embrace their future with a positive outlook, unfazed by critics or the pressures of public opinion. Haldun’s bold prediction that the film will become a cult classic may just prove to be the perfect metaphor for their own love story—one that’s unafraid to take risks and embrace the unconventional.

For now, Haldun and Amy are focused on what’s important: their upcoming nuptials and the joy they find in each other’s company. It seems that no matter what happens with *Better Man* or any other challenges life may throw their way, they’re not letting the haters get in the way of their happiness. With their June wedding just around the corner, they’re ready to say “I do” and celebrate their love, no matter what the critics may say.
