Sam Thompson leaned on Pete Wicks’ shoulder and cried while attending the TRIC Awards. Sam admitted that he was ‘never really himself’ in the relationship with Zara McDermott

Sam Thompson was consoled by Pete Wicks as he emotionally broke down in tears while attending the TRIC Awards on Tuesday night.

In pictures exclusively obtained by MailOnline, the Made In Chelsea star, 31, was spotted during an emotional exchange

with his close friend in the smoking area at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.

The images showed Sam breaking down in tears before Pete sweetly embraced him, appearing to give the reality star a pep talk.

According to onlookers, the pair spent 30 minutes in the smoking area together, with Sam breaking down in tears once again

after being comforted by Pete. MailOnline has contacted representatives for Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks for comment.

It also comes just weeks after Sam was locked in a similarly dramatic chat with his girlfriend Zara McDermott, though the star has since insisted that they were just having a ‘passionate pep talk.’

The pair had been pictured together at the Soccer Aid afterparty, where they appeared to engage in a heated exchange.

However, Zara took to Instagram the following day to address the pictures and said she was telling the reality star ‘positive affirmations’, after it looked like they were having an argument.

She wrote: ‘Why did this make me laugh so much btw [laughing emojis] ‘Stop saying you should have scored!!!! You did your best and that’s all that matters!! You need to stop doubting yourself!!!’

‘It looks like we are having an argument but I’m actually telling him positive affirmations in a very passionate manner.’

Zara appeared frustrated as she visibly waved her arms around while deep in a tense chat – but now confirmed it was just an incredibly passionate conversation.

Earlier in the day, supportive girlfriend Zara cheered on the TV star as he helped England secure a 6-3 win against World XI in the charity match.

It comes after Sam admitted that he was ‘never really himself’ on Made In Chelsea due to his ADHD struggles, as he shared how his diagnosis impacts his relationship with girlfriend Zara McDermott.

In an interview with TikTok star Holly Morris, during an Inside Out 2 press junket, the reality star was asked when he stopped masking and began acting as his true self.

Sam answered: ‘When I was on Made In Chelsea, a lot of the time I wasn’t even really, really myself, I was who I thought I should be. Because everyone else was doing these things, I was like: ‘I should be doing these things.’

‘Only in the past couple of years have I been fully, fully me. I am not super Mr. Happy Golden Retriever every single day.’

Sam told Holly: ‘I’ve got home me, which is with Zara, which, actually, poor girl, literally sometimes I won’t speak for like an hour.

‘Why? ‘Cause, you’re like: ”My social battery’s completely dead.” But then there’s like excitable me which is like through the roof up there.’

He added: ‘I get that to the point where I will sometimes talk to myself over when they’re talking to me.

‘So, when Zara’s talking to me, she’ll be telling me a story about her day, and I’m like, ‘All right, this is it. This the moment where you need to be a good boyfriend. This is the crux. She wants to feel heard.

‘So, I’ll be like: OK, go! ‘How was your day?’ And she’ll tell me about her day, and my mind goes: ‘I don’t know what she just said.”

Sam and Zara began dating in 2019, but broke up when Sam discovered she had been cheating on him.

While Sam was initially hesitant, the two patched things up and have been going strong ever since.

Sam was diagnosed with ADHD, Tic syndrome, and autism in 2023.

In an April interview with a young boy on his radio show, Sam said of ADHD: ‘I think it’s a complete and utter superpower’.

‘I think that you are creative, you hyper-fixate on things you enjoy and you absolutely love.

‘I think a massive thing Thomas, and this is probably the best advice I can give you, is find something that you absolutely adore, and put all of that ADHD into it cause you will succeed in anything you do if you enjoy it.

‘I promise you, ADHD, if you are doing something you love, it’s a superpower and you will literally be the best in the room.

‘And I’m very very happy that I have an ADHD brother, a neurodiverse brother like you, my man’.

Sam posted the sweet interview to his Instagram to open up about his ADHD and raise awareness for young children in school.

He captioned the post with: ‘I don’t talk about my ADHD too much on here, to be honest not nearly enough. I work in an environment where my ADHD is celebrated as part of Who I am, and I am incredibly lucky.

‘However, I also know that this is not the case everywhere, especially in schools. I remember being younger and feeling different and not understanding why.

‘When I was in school, I wished I had someone to tell me that I was ok, and someone to tell me that it wasn’t because I was stupid, I didn’t care, and that I was intentionally not paying attention.

‘It was because I had undiagnosed ADHD. I really hope that I can be a small part of young people accepting themselves for who they are, neuro-diverse or not.’

Understanding Deductibles in Insurance

What is a Deductible?

A deductible is the amount of money a policyholder must pay out-of-pocket before an insurance company begins to cover the remaining costs. Deductibles are a fundamental component of most insurance policies, including health, auto, home, and business insurance.

How Do Deductibles Work?

When you file a claim, you are responsible for paying the deductible amount. Only after this amount is paid will the insurance company pay for the covered expenses exceeding the deductible. For example, if you have a $1,000 deductible on your car insurance and incur $3,000 in damages from an accident, you would pay the first $1,000, and the insurance company would cover the remaining $2,000.

Types of Deductibles

  1. Fixed Dollar Deductible: This is a specific amount you must pay each time you file a claim. It’s common in health and auto insurance policies.
  2. Percentage Deductible: In some cases, particularly with homeowners insurance, the deductible might be a percentage of the insured value. For instance, if your home is insured for $200,000 and you have a 2% deductible, your out-of-pocket cost would be $4,000 before insurance covers the rest.
  3. Per-Claim vs. Annual Deductible:
    • Per-Claim Deductible: You pay the deductible every time you file a claim.
    • Annual Deductible: Common in health insurance, this deductible resets each year. You pay out-of-pocket until your total expenses reach the deductible amount for the year.

Why Do Deductibles Exist?

  1. Cost Control: Deductibles help keep insurance premiums more affordable. Higher deductibles typically result in lower premiums because the policyholder assumes more initial risk.
  2. Reduced Claims Frequency: Deductibles discourage policyholders from filing small or frivolous claims, reducing the number of claims an insurer must process and pay out.
  3. Shared Responsibility: Deductibles ensure that policyholders share in the financial responsibility of their care or damages, promoting cautious behavior and maintenance of insured assets.

Choosing the Right Deductible

When selecting an insurance policy, choosing the right deductible is crucial. Here are some considerations:

  1. Financial Ability: Assess your ability to pay the deductible in case of a claim. A higher deductible can lower your premium but may be challenging to pay if an incident occurs.
  2. Risk Tolerance: Determine how much risk you are comfortable assuming. If you prefer lower out-of-pocket costs during an emergency, a lower deductible might be preferable, albeit with a higher premium.
  3. Frequency of Claims: Consider how often you might need to file a claim. If you anticipate frequent claims, a lower deductible might be more cost-effective over time.

Impact on Premiums

The relationship between deductibles and premiums is inverse. Generally, the higher the deductible, the lower the premium, and vice versa. This trade-off allows policyholders to customize their insurance based on their financial situation and risk appetite.

Conclusion

Deductibles are a key feature of insurance policies that influence both the cost of premiums and the financial burden on policyholders when filing claims. Understanding how deductibles work and carefully selecting an appropriate deductible can help balance cost savings with financial protection, ensuring optimal insurance coverage tailored to individual needs and circumstances.
