Savannah Guthrie is celebrating a major milestone in her daughter Vale’s life, and like any proud mother, she’s feeling emotional about it.

The Today co-anchor recently shared heartwarming moments from Vale’s elementary school graduation, reflecting on how quickly time has passed.
A Proud Moment for Mom
On June 6, Guthrie, 52, took to social media to share glimpses of her daughter’s special day. Posting to her Instagram Stories,

she captured the excitement and emotion of the event, including a snapshot of the ceremony stage with the caption, “moving up to middle school.”

She also shared a touching photo of Vale dressed in a light blue top and matching skirt, looking more grown-up than ever.

In a moment of disbelief at how fast her daughter has grown, Guthrie wrote on the image, “When did this happen?”
Her youngest child, Charley, 7, was also there to support his big sister. In another post, Guthrie snapped a selfie with Charley as they leaned into each other, soaking in the special occasion. She captioned the picture, “All the feels,” perfectly capturing the emotions of the day.
Vale’s Special Message from Her Classmates
One of the most touching moments for Guthrie came in the form of a small note written by one of Vale’s classmates. In a photo shared on Instagram, Guthrie revealed a Post-It note that described Vale as an “interesting conversationalist.” With a hint of humor and pride, Guthrie expressed how much the compliment meant to her, saying she had “never been prouder.”
A Close-Knit Family Celebrating Together
Family time has always been important to Guthrie, and this graduation was just one of many special moments she has shared with her husband, Michael Feldman, and their two children.
Earlier this spring, the family of four spent Easter together, capturing sweet moments throughout the day. Guthrie shared photos of the family posing together before heading out to celebrate and later relaxing at home as the kids excitedly opened their Easter baskets. “Oh happy day,” she captioned the joyful snapshots.
A Love for Broadway and Making Memories
Guthrie has always prioritized making lasting memories with her children, and earlier this year, she and Vale enjoyed a mother-daughter night out at a Broadway show.

In March, the pair attended a performance of & Juliet in New York City, and Guthrie couldn’t help but share how much fun they had. She reposted a video from the show’s Instagram account, showing the two dancing and singing on stage with the cast. The night ended with Guthrie and Vale taking photos with the performers, and the proud mom affectionately wrote, “My little Broadway star.”
Grateful for Motherhood
Guthrie has always been open about how much she cherishes being a mother, especially since she became a parent later in life. She has spoken candidly about her journey to motherhood, sharing that she once thought she might never have children.
“I’m so grateful for my blessings. I really can’t get over it—I’ll never get over it,” she previously shared. “I got to have babies long past the time that anyone would really be hopeful, [and] I had long given up hope.”
Though she is incredibly thankful for the joy her children bring, Guthrie also acknowledges the struggles many people face when their dreams don’t unfold as expected. “We all have moments in our lives where we don’t feel that the thing we wanted to happen has happened, or we don’t feel that we have been blessed,” she said.

Her perspective on life has been shaped by these experiences, making every milestone, like Vale’s graduation, even more meaningful. “My life has been so surprising and wonderful because there were times when I didn’t think there was much hope for me,” she reflected.
A Bright Future Ahead
As Vale moves on to middle school, it’s clear she has a strong support system behind her. With a mother who cherishes every moment and a family that celebrates even the smallest milestones, Vale’s journey is just beginning.
For Guthrie, this graduation is a reminder of how quickly time flies, but also of the many exciting moments still to come. And as always, she’ll be there every step of the way, capturing the memories and cherishing the journey.
