Scottie declares he will prevent Tiger Woods from returning to golf ever again after their recent c0nflict (video)

Tiger Woods has produced the greatest season by a male professional golfer in the modern era.

Of course, there have been a handful of others who have won more in a single year, like Byron Nelson who won 18 in 1945 and Sam Snead who won 11 in 1950,

but no one has truly dominated an entire season since men’s professional golf evolved into what it is today.

But it’s not insurmountable, as in 2024, Scottie Scheffler has been on a roll.

Going into 2024, Scottie Scheffler has won five titles – one of them a major and his second Masters title.

If Scheffler can lift the U.S. Open a week after his PGA Tour success, the world No. 1 will be on track to match Woods’ incredible 2000s record.

For Tiger Woods, he started his first year by winning the inaugural tournament, winning the Mercedes Championships (now The Sentry) for his 16th of 82 PGA Tour victories. In 2024, Scheffler could only manage a T5 at the event.

Keeping his winning streak going, Woods went out and won the Pebble Beach Pro-Am in his second tournament of the year, shooting a final-round 64. Coincidentally, both players won the Arnold Palmer Invitational in their sixth starts of the year, with Woods finishing in first place at -18 and Scheffler at -15.

Then came Woods’ title drought of the year, when he finished in the top five three times in a row – including at The Masters – without a trophy. Scheffler, meanwhile, won four of five events in March and April – missing out on five straight wins at the Texas Children’s Houston Open.

Since then, Woods has won all three remaining Majors and two more PGA Tour titles. He did it all in just 20 starts and has earned $9,188,321 without missing a cut all year.

Now just halfway through the season, Scheffler will play seven more events this season, with two Majors, one Signature event and three playoff tournaments, but he’s likely to play more than that, so it’s not out of the question that he could surpass Woods’ record. For the comparisons to continue, however, Scheffler must not only maintain his winning streak but also win at Pinehurst No.2 this week.
