‘Sick behaviour!’ Moment furious GB News grooming gang row erupts

Tensions flared during Monday evening’s episode of Patrick Christys Tonight on GB News,

as a passionate debate over grooming gangs and the handling of child abuse cases exploded into a furious row.

The discussion turned particularly heated when Kemi Badenoch, Conservative Party leader,

was accused of engaging in “sick behaviour” by making controversial comparisons between the issue of grooming gangs and other sensitive topics.

The Spark for the Argument

The discussion began with the panel examining Kemi Badenoch’s recent comments regarding her commitment to standing up for victims of grooming gangs.

Badenoch had previously pledged to challenge the silence surrounding the abuse inflicted on vulnerable children, making strong statements about holding perpetrators accountable. While many viewers and panelists welcomed her stance, it was her comparison between the grooming gang issue and what she called “autistic gay children” being “sterilized under the guise of trans” that ignited the furious backlash.

Host Patrick Christys introduced the topic by referencing Badenoch’s broader political agenda, stating, “She’s going to stand up for the victims of these rape gangs, in the same way that she stood up for… autistic gay children who were being sterilized as a result of and under the guise of trans.” Christys continued, asserting that Badenoch’s comments about medical professionals experimenting on children were valid, adding that her strong stance on grooming gangs was also crucial.

Benjamin Butterworth’s Outburst

As the conversation progressed, Benjamin Butterworth, a journalist and panelist, took issue with what he perceived as an inappropriate comparison. He strongly condemned Badenoch’s comments, calling her remarks “sick political behaviour.” He argued that linking the issue of grooming gangs to children transitioning was not only wrong but also manipulative. Butterworth expressed his disgust at what he saw as a political tactic that exploited vulnerable children for personal and political gain.

Butterworth firmly stated, “Kemi Badenoch should be totally ashamed of those comments. The fact is, she is using vulnerable children, whether they were appropriately or inappropriately diagnosed, in order to make a point about grooming gangs—this is sick political behaviour.” His criticism came at a moment when emotions were already running high, with the panel split over Badenoch’s approach to both issues.

Badenoch’s Hardline Stance on Grooming Gangs

Despite the backlash, Badenoch’s focus remained on exposing the “predatory” behaviour perpetrated by grooming gangs, which she has repeatedly denounced. During the episode, she discussed her recent meetings with survivors of grooming gangs from cities like Rotherham and Oldham. She recounted the disturbing stories of victims who had been failed by authorities, particularly highlighting one case where a 12-year-old girl was handed back to abusers by the police.

Badenoch stressed that the lack of action by local authorities and police services was one of the major issues contributing to the ongoing problem. She also criticized the “culture of silence” that allowed the abuse to continue without intervention, asserting that strong measures must be taken to protect vulnerable children from these gangs.

The Conservative leader also condemned the perpetrators of such crimes, saying, “There are some places where when people behave in that way, a mob turns up and burns their homes down, and then they know they can’t do that sort of thing.” She suggested that holding individuals accountable for their actions was crucial for ensuring justice for the victims.

A Call for Accountability

Badenoch’s hardline stance on grooming gangs and child protection was made even clearer as she addressed the failure of state bodies, including the police and social services, to protect victims. She argued for a deeper investigation into these systemic failures, calling for more inquiries and accountability.

On the topic of the Conservative government’s previous failure to initiate a national inquiry into the grooming gang scandal, Badenoch expressed her frustration. “We’ve had multiple non-national inquiries, but they are not enough. Let’s do more,” she demanded. The Tory leader also spoke emotionally about how the abuse of children deeply affected her, especially as a mother of two daughters.

In response to last week’s parliamentary vote against a national inquiry, Badenoch emphasized the importance of securing justice for the survivors and exposing those responsible for both the abuse and the failure to prevent it. She stated, “This is about those victims who deserve justice and the survivors who deserve justice by making sure that every single perpetrator we can find is caught and brought to justice.”

Continued Fallout from the Debate

The confrontation on Patrick Christys Tonight has sparked further debate on social media, with viewers divided over the exchange. While some supported Badenoch’s tough stance on grooming gangs and her call for more national action, others criticized the way she framed the issue, accusing her of using vulnerable children as a political tool.

As the row continues to unfold, it’s clear that the debate over grooming gangs and the handling of these issues by authorities remains one of the most contentious topics in British politics today. The incident on GB News underscores the deep divisions in how such sensitive topics are discussed, with emotions running high on all sides.
