Sources claim Emma Watson was “a target” in Harvey Weinstein’s s*xual mis*onduct scandal, he approached her under the guise of “raising funds for anti-harassment”

The actress, 28, spoke out about the Time’s Up initiative which was launched in January last year and backed by more than 300 actresses,

writers and directors following abuse allegations against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.

Harry Potter star Emma posted about Time’s Up on Instagram, saying she felt “optimistic” about a “fairer future”.

She wrote: “One of the most memorable moments of TIME’S UP in the UK for me has been the launch of the Justice and Equality Fund (the UK’s version of the Legal Defence Fund),

which aims to support women who have experienced harassment and abuse, improve accountability, and prevent future abuses from occurring.

“The JEF offers much-needed funds to existing expert services and grassroots activism.

“Many people don’t realise that very basic services which protect and care for women in the UK are under threat, and it’s incredible the difference the fund has made in a short space of time.”

Emma continued: “The Justice and Equality Fund (JEF) has already resourced the vital work of organisations like London Black Women’s Project, who provide specialist support to women of colour and migrant survivors of abuse, and Rights of Women, who will resource a free and confidential helpline led by women lawyers offering legal advice to women experiencing sexual harassment.

“The JEF has also supported keeping the Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre for England and Wales helpline open and is resourcing the first rape crisis service provision in Norther Ireland in 12 years.”

She added: “I hope that more people will be inspired by the #TIMESUP anniversary to give at home here in the UK, so the Justice and Equality Fund can reach even more under-resourced organisations and campaign groups in 2019.”

The Hollywood star shred a video about the campaign with her followers on social media.

Time’s Up came about after producer Mr Weinstein faced charges in New York of alleged sexual assaults on two women.

He has been accused of sexual misconduct by more than 70 women and is facing investigations by the American federal government.
