Stefanos Tsitsipas and Petros Tsitsipas kept alive their dream of winning a major title as a team on Wednesday at Roland Garros,
where they beat Frenchmen Manuel Guinard and Gregoire Jacq 7-6(2), 6-2 to reach the quarter-finals in Paris.
The Greek brothers had never been beyond the second round at a major together prior to arriving in the French capital, but they have produced consistent and determined displays in Paris to reach the last eight.
Last season, they won their first doubles title together as a team in Antwerp. The Tsitsipas brothers will next face Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic.
Earlier on Day 11, revenge was swift for Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos at Roland Garros.
The top seeds dispatched Tomas Machac and Zhang Zhizhen 6-4, 6-1 in just 65 minutes to book their semi-final spot at the clay-court major in Paris.
Granollers and Zeballos responded superbly to falling 1-3 behind early on Court Philippe-Chatrier, where they converted five of six break points they earned, according to Infosys Stats, and won 11 of the final 13 games.
With their triumph, Granollers and Zeballos levelled their Lexus ATP Head2Head series with Machac and Zhang at 1-1. The teams previously faced off in April in the Barcelona quarter-finals, when Top 50 singles stars Machac and Zhang clinched victory in a Match Tie-break.
The joint-No. 1s in the PIF ATP Doubles Rankings, Granollers and Zeballos will face ninth seeds Arevalo and Pavic or Tsitsipas and Tsitsipas in the last four.
In other early Wednesday action in Paris, 11th seeds Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori upset third seeds Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury 1-6, 6-3, 6-4. The all-Italian team will take on second seeds Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden after the Indian-Australian team beat 10th seeds Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen 7-6(3), 5-7, 6-1.
Bopanna and Ebden won 80 per cent (48/60) of their first-serve points en route to a two-hour, six-minute win. They are chasing their second major of the season together, having won the Australian Open in January.
