Former JLS star JB Gill has opened up about the controversy surrounding his Strictly Come Dancing co-star Wynne Evans,

who was recently removed from the show’s live tour following an inappropriate comment directed at host Janette Manrara.
Wynne, best known for his role as the Go Compare opera singer, was initially given a warning
after the incident but later stepped away from the tour and his BBC radio show amid growing backlash.

He has since apologized and stated that he will be taking time off to focus on his well-being.

JB, who has been part of the Strictly live tour, expressed his sympathy for Wynne’s situation but remained careful about commenting directly on the controversy.

Speaking to The Sun, he acknowledged how difficult it can be when a castmate exits under such circumstances.
“When you’re part of a cast like that, it’s always difficult when you see someone go,” JB said. “Obviously, the circumstances kind of speak for themselves, and I can’t comment on that. But it is sad when you’re part of a big group.”
JB Gill Hopes Wynne Evans Can Recover
While JB has not been in direct contact with Wynne, he made it clear that he wishes him well and hopes he can move forward from this challenging period.
“I hope so,” JB said when asked if he thinks Wynne can come back from the scandal. “I think he’s going through a bit of a tough time at the minute. Obviously, I’m wishing him well and hoping he’ll be able to come back.”
JB’s comments come after Wynne broke his silence on social media following weeks of absence.

Wynne Evans Returns to Instagram with Support for Tasha Ghouri
Wynne had been absent from social media since the scandal erupted, but he recently reappeared on Instagram to leave a message of support for his Strictly co-star, Tasha Ghouri.
Tasha, who won the Strictly Come Dancing Live tour alongside professional dance partner Aljaž Škorjanec, shared her excitement over the victory in a heartfelt post.
“Winners of the @strictlycomedancinglive tour!! 24 glitterballs, 35 arenas, a month of travelling around the UK & I get to take the trophy home after 6 months of Strictly… this chapter has come to an end, but they all say good things come to an end,” she wrote. “What an absolute whirlwind it has been, I really am going to miss this but here’s to more dancing in the future because it doesn’t end here!”
In response, Wynne left a brief but supportive comment: “Well done lovely lady. Xxxx.”
His return to social media suggests he may slowly be re-engaging with the public following his abrupt exit from the tour.

The Incident That Led to Wynne’s Departure
The controversy surrounding Wynne erupted after he made an inappropriate remark while on the Strictly live tour.
During a photocall, Wynne was recorded singing his well-known Go Compare jingle as host Janette Manrara walked over to the group. However, he then followed up with an offhand comment directed at EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick, before making a crude remark using the term “spit roast,” which refers to a lewd sexual act.
Initially, BBC bosses issued Wynne a warning, but as public outrage grew, the situation escalated, leading to his eventual removal from the tour.
Wynne Evans Issues Public Apology
After stepping away from his commitments, Wynne issued a statement apologizing for his behavior and acknowledging the impact of his words.
“I’ve agreed with the BBC that I’ll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritize my well-being,” he said.

“I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused and plan to take this time for self-reflection. Apologies to those I won’t get to see at the remaining performances, and I’m grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me.”
What’s Next for Wynne Evans?
It remains unclear whether Wynne will return to his BBC radio show or resume other professional commitments in the near future. His decision to step back and focus on self-reflection suggests he is taking the situation seriously and hopes to rebuild his reputation.
For now, JB Gill and others in the Strictly cast continue to express their support for Wynne, acknowledging the difficulties he is facing while also respecting the decision that was made regarding his removal.
With the Strictly live tour continuing without him, Wynne’s future in television and radio remains uncertain, but his recent social media engagement indicates that he is slowly reintroducing himself to the public eye. Whether he will be able to fully bounce back from this scandal remains to be seen.
