Prince Harry is “in a difficult position as he’s increasingly nostalgic for old life in UK”, a royal expert says.
The Duke of Sussex stepped back from his role as a senior working member of the Royal Family back in 2020, alongside his wife Meghan Markle.
The couple announced at the time: “We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent,
while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.”
The couple then decided to move from their home in Windsor, England, to a lavish mansion in Montecito, California in the United States.
The couple have resided in the US ever since, with a royal expert now saying Harry is “nostalgic” and missing his old life in his home country.
In an exclusive chat with The Mirror, royal author and expert Tom Quinn said that Harry wants to spend more time in England, but Meghan has differing views on it. “Prince Harry wants to spend more time in the UK, but he knows he is going to have to do it alone,” Quinn says. “Meghan has publicly stated that she has no intention of returning to England. This puts Harry in a really difficult position if any kind of positive relationship is to be re-established with his family.”
He added: “After the excitement of moving to the US, the honeymoon period is now over and Harry is beginning to find time hangs heavy for him – he is increasingly nostalgic for much of his old life back in the UK. For all his problems with his family he always loved his military and school friends and he misses them.”
This comes after the Duke of Sussex missed Trooping the Colour last weekend, with him remaining in the United States on the day that marked his father’s official birthday.
