The Voice season 25 officially kicked off on NBC, and one of the coaches is not afraid to use some of her celebrity comrades as a way to convince contenders to join her team.
During the February 26 episode of the competition series, viewers met Tae Lewis, a country artist based out of Nashville.
He shocked coaches John Legend and Reba McEntire with his unique cover of Keith Urban’s “Somebody Like You,” causing both musicians to turn around in their red chairs.
As each tried to persuade Tae to join their respective team, John and Reba couldn’t help but name drop two NBC personalities who could potentially boost Tae’s career.
“I would love to have you on my team,” Reba told Tae as John looked on in disbelief. “We’d have a blast.”
“But what choice would get you on the Today show?” John asked. “Hoda [Kotb] and Jenna [Bush Hager] would be talking about you,” he added.
Causing Tae to consider becoming a member of John’s crew.
While John’s comment about Tae potentially making it on daytime television surprised Reba, it didn’t stop her from throwing a little shade at John with her own comeback.
“I’m great friends with Hoda. Jenna and I are just like this,” she countered, holding her fingers together.
Seeing the hilarious exchange between John and Reba, fans couldn’t help but laugh at the duo’s antics. “Love all of Reba’s tricks 😂,” one person said in the comments on Instagram. “Ohhhhhh 🤣🤣🤣,” another remarked. “This was hilarious lol!” a different follower agreed.
In the end, Reba calling out Hoda and Jenna may have swayed Tae’s decision, because he eventually chose her as his mentor for season 25. And to top it all off, Hoda and Jenna addressed the moment on the February 27 taping of the Today show, revealing they’re close with both Reba and John.

“Here’s the deal: Had he gone with John, we would still be talking about him,” Jenna commented, per TODAY.com.
“We talk about the finest singers on this show,” Hoda added. “We talk about a lot of that stuff. But how cute was that?”
It’s all love with these folks!
