Teddi Mellencamp, 43, gives health update after undergoing surgery to remove brain tumors: ‘The fight is not over’

Reality television star Teddi Mellencamp has provided an update on her health journey following brain surgery to remove multiple tumors.

The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member, 43, took to social media on Friday to share her progress and express gratitude for the support she has received.

Mellencamp posted a heartfelt selfie lying in bed, revealing her shaved head, and captioned the image with a brief yet powerful message: “Staples out and ready for radiation.”

The wellness coach has been transparent about her health struggles,

and this latest update highlights her resilience and determination as she prepares for the next phase of her treatment.

Support from Fellow Housewives

Mellencamp’s post was met with an outpouring of love from friends, fans, and fellow Real Housewives cast members.

Kyle Richards, her longtime friend and co-star, commented, “Gorgeous as ever,” while Dorit Kemsley shared, “You look beautiful! Praying for you!”

Other members of the Real Housewives franchise, including Real Housewives of Orange County stars Emily Simpson and Gina Kirschenheiter, also sent their support. Simpson commented, “Looking strong and beautiful,” while Kirschenheiter added, “So happy you’re doing well, Teddi!! Keep crushing it! You’re so beautiful!”

Mellencamp’s sister, Justice, shared her own message of encouragement by reposting the image on her Instagram Story, writing, “Cancer, don’t mess with a Mellencamp. @teddimellencamp is here to kick your ass. Love you so much!”

More Tumors Removed Than Expected

Earlier in the week, Mellencamp revealed that her surgery was more complex than initially anticipated. She shared that doctors removed four tumors instead of the originally expected two. Despite this unexpected development, she remained optimistic, stating, “This fight is not over, but that round has been won.”

The podcast host took a moment to thank her medical team for their efforts, crediting them with making her surgery successful and ensuring her recovery has been as comfortable as possible. She also expressed deep appreciation for the unwavering support from her friends, family, and fans.

“As I move on to the next steps in my treatment, I just wanted to say thank you to everybody for the outpouring of love and prayers,” she shared. “I see them, and they’re definitely helping me stay strong.”

Shocking Diagnosis and Battle Against Cancer

Mellencamp first disclosed her diagnosis in February, explaining that she had been suffering from severe headaches for weeks. When the pain became unbearable, she sought medical attention and underwent a series of scans, which revealed multiple tumors on her brain.

“After a CT scan and MRI, doctors found multiple tumors on my brain, which they believe have been growing for at least six months,” she wrote in a candid Instagram post. “Two of the tumors will be surgically removed today – The remaining smaller tumors will be dealt with via radiation at a later date.”

The daughter of legendary singer John Mellencamp shared that she felt “blessed” to have the support of her children, loved ones, and an incredible medical team throughout this challenging time.

Estranged Husband Stays by Her Side

Despite announcing their separation in the fall of 2024, Mellencamp’s estranged husband, Edwin Arroyave, has been a constant presence during her health battle. The pair, who share three children—Slate, 12, Cruz, 10, and Dove, 5—have put their divorce proceedings on hold as they navigate this difficult period together.

“The divorce is not anyone’s focus at the moment,” a source revealed. “Edwin wants to be there for Teddi and their family in any way they need.”

Another insider added that the former couple remains on good terms, with Arroyave offering unwavering support. In a statement shared on February 17, Arroyave wrote, “Our family is thankful to everybody for your continued prayers and well wishes. Teddi is beyond grateful for the outpouring of love while she continues to recover.”

Previous Battle with Skin Cancer

In addition to her current health battle, Mellencamp has faced multiple skin cancer diagnoses in recent years. She has used her platform to raise awareness about the importance of regular skin checks and early detection. On February 4, she posted a photo of the scar on her back, urging her followers to schedule their screenings.

“It’s #WorldCancerDay so I’d like to remind you to get your skin checks scheduled,” she wrote.

Looking Ahead

As Mellencamp embarks on the next stage of her treatment, she remains optimistic and determined. Her honesty about her journey has not only drawn support from her peers but has also inspired many who are facing similar health challenges.

With radiation therapy on the horizon and a strong support system rallying around her, Mellencamp continues to fight with grace and resilience. While the road ahead may still have challenges, she has proven that she is more than ready to face them head-on.
