When Rihanna launched Fenty Beauty in 2017, the brand was taking one approach: more. There were more foundation shades for all (now over 40), more innovative color products and packaging,
and more diversity and inclusion in the brand’s visuals and social media presence. Her new skincare line Fenty Skin—available on July 31—is not launching with 40 products, but instead just three.
Rihanna wants to prove that you can do more with less, at least when it comes to skincare.
“Fenty Skin is everything I wish I had back then,” says the mogul in a press release. “I wanted it to feel approachable, easy, and to take the pressure off choosing a routine, so I created one for everyone.”
The “New Culture of Skincare” is made up of just three products: Total Cleans’r Remove-It-All Cleanser, Fat Water Pore-Refining Toner Serum, and Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30.
All are cruelty-free, vegan, oil-free, and eco-conscious. The products are simple and straightforward, made for anyone with skin of any color.
After testing the products for over a month, we would agree that anyone—regardless of gender or identity—can use and love Fenty Skin, but those of us with sensitive or acne-prone skin should integrate the products with a little caution.
The packaging is the first genius thing you’ll notice about Fenty Skin. The twist-open and twist-close cap makes quick work of your skin care routine, and the streamlined packaging means the products use less plastic overall.
The Fenty Skin line isn’t exactly green, but it’s definitely made with sustainability in mind. The bottles are made using PCR and can be recycled.
