“I Can’t” is the first single off the country legend’s forthcoming album.
Reba McEntire is back with her first new song in five years!
The queen of country opened Tuesday’s episode of The Voice with a powerful performance of her brand-new single, “I Can’t.”
McEntire kicked off the show in a blaze of special effects and pyrotechnics.
In a fringed black jacket fit for a rockstar, the 69-year-old coach captivated the audience with an inspiring breakup song about leaving someone behind to move on and survive.
“I’ve got the thunder in my bones, I’ve got the trouble in my soul,” the song begins. “Drowning in tears my eyes were too proud to cry. I hear you knockin’ at my door, but I can’t open it no more. ‘Cause this heart’s half full of rain and risin’ high. Sometimes all that you can do is just survive.”
The track, which is available to stream here, will be included on McEntire’s upcoming studio album.
To say it’s been a busy time for the “Fancy” singer would be an understatement. In addition to a new album and her role as a coach on The Voice, McEntire is also working on a sitcom for NBC, Happy Place. The multihyphenate will star in the comedy series alongside her boyfriend Rex Linn and her Reba costar Melissa Peterman. Fans won’t be surprised to learn that McEntire will also be performing the new sitcom’s theme song.
“Oh, definitely. I’ll be singing the theme song,” she told People. “We’ve started working on it, and we’ll have it soon finished.”
It’s a great time to be a Reba fan, y’all!
