The Voice’s Dan + Shay put Reba McEntire on notice over country artist b@ttle: “Buckle up, Reba!” (video)

THE VOICE coaches Dan + Shay have addressed the departure from the show and teased that Reba McEntire is shaking in her boots ahead of the finale.

The Season 25 finale is scheduled to air on Monday, May 20, and Tuesday, May 21 on NBC.

Dan + Shay members Dan Smyers, 36, and Shay Mooney, 32, talked about their exit and teased a possible return in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight.

The country-pop duo were asked if the door was still open for them to return to The Voice if they wanted.

Shay responded, “I think that’s absolutely a possibility.

He added that if they did return it would have to be in “the future.”

The Grammy winner stated, “We’re touring a lot this year, which we’re really excited about but obviously doesn’t allow us to come back.”

“I think that would be a blast if they would have us, we would definitely love to see what that looked like,” he added.

Shay said that taking part in the live shows after previously filming the try-outs feels like they’re “walking into a family reunion.”

“It’s just such an honor that out of all the people they could have chosen they chose us.”

He joked that since the production team already fabricated the double chairs for him and Dan to sit in together, they’ll hopefully be invited back.

When asked if they have any advice for Season 26 coaches Michael Bublé and Snoop Dogg, Dan answered, “Those guys are seasoned pros.

“They’re top of their game, they don’t need our advice but they’re gonna have a blast. They’re gonna kill it.”

Three of Dan + Shay’s picks, Tae Lewis, Karen Waldrup, and Madison Curbelo, have made it to the semi-finals.

The singing duo was told that Reba, 69, warned them not to get too confident just because they have three contestants in the finals – it still doesn’t mean the pair will take home the win.

“[Reba’s] trying to make herself feel better,” Shay joked before adding, “she shaking in her boots.

He then humbly admitted that the country music legend still gives him “the chills.”

“She still makes me nervous just to be around her.”

On Monday, the Season 26 coaches lineup was shared at NBCUniversal Upfront at Radio City Musical Hall in New York City.

Reba McEntire, 69 – who joined the cast last season following Blake Shelton’s departure – announced in a pre-recorded video that she is returning to her red chair.

The Fancy singer also revealed that Blake’s wife Voice veteran Gwen Stefani, 54, and rapper Snoop Dogg, 52, will join her in coaching next season.

Snoop Dogg then appeared on stage to say a few words before announcing Michael Bublé, 48, as the fourth coach.

Michael came out and performed for the packed crowd.

The televised singing competition changed things up for Season 25 with the addition of its first double chair for Dan + Shay.

They currently sit alongside John Legend, 45, Reba, and Chance the Rapper, 31.

John recently announced he would not be returning for Season 26.

He’s joining fellow Season 25 coaches Chance the Rapper, and Dan + Shay in stepping away from the singing competition next season.

The 46-year-old, who has been turning his chair on the show since Season 16, revealed just because he’s sitting next season out, doesn’t mean he won’t be busy.

“We’ve always got so many things going on,” he told ET. “I’ll be doing a lot of shows this summer and traveling overseas.”

Meanwhile, a source exclusively told The U.S. Sun last month that Blake, 47, is considering returning to the show following his exit after 23 seasons.

The God’s Country singer had been a coach on The Voice since its inception in 2011 before deciding to step away.

“Blake may have said his time on the show is over, but he has not closed the door for good,” the insider revealed.

“He would come back to the show if Gwen was invited too, and then they could enjoy working together again.”

Gwen and Blake, who got married in July 2021, met as coaches on The Voice in 2014.

John evealed that Blake would most likely return if Gwen was by his side.

However, some viewers are convinced the long-running show is going downhill as it struggles to compete with America’s Got Talent.

The U.S. Sun previously revealed that the rival shows are “fighting it out” to be the top-ranked on the network.

A source shared that the battle would get more intense when AGT returns later this month.
