The Yellowstone 1923 spinoff is considered a new turning point in Harrison Ford’s acting career. He has completely transformed with this role!

Finally, some progress has been made regarding the development of the second season of the Yellowstone spinoff 1923,

and the new cast member will fit in nicely with the other actors following her former role on a popular crime drama show.

The Western drama television series, created by Taylor Sheridan (of course),

serves as the second spinoff in the Yellowstone franchise (following 1883) and, as the title suggests, takes place in 1923.

1923 is a sequel to 1883 and follows Jacob and Cara Dutton, played by Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, living on the Yellowstone ranch during treacherous times.

Aside from Ford and Mirren, the main cast of 1923 includes Brandon Sklenar as Spencer Dutton, Julia Schlaepfer as Alexandra, Jerome Flynn as Banner Creighton,

Darren Mann as Jack Dutton, Isabel May as Elsa Dutton, Brian Geraghty as Zane Davis, Aminah Nieves as Teonna Rainwater, Michelle Randolph as Liz Strafford, and Timothy Dalton as Donald Whitfield. A few weeks prior to the ending of 1923 season 1 in February 2023, Paramount+ renewed the spinoff for a second season. However, given the 2023 strikes, not much had been announced regarding season 2 until the new cast member news in June 2024.

Jennifer Carpenter Will Play A U.S. Deputy Marshal In 1923 Season 2

The 1923 season 2 cast had added its first new character — Mamie Fossett, played by Jennifer Carpenter. Mamie is a United States Deputy Marshal who is described as “highly capable” and someone who “serves warrants and makes arrests with confidence ahead of her time.” Aside from that minimal information, little is known about Mamie’s character. Carpenter will not be a part of the main cast as her role is recurring, but her addition to the show is still exciting, especially when taking into account her impressive experience on a popular Showtime crime drama series.

Carpenter Already Portrayed A Homicide Detective For Eight Seasons On Dexter

Jennifer Carpenter is best known for her portrayal of Debra Morgan in the Showtime crime drama television series Dexter. Carpenter starred as Dexter Morgan’s sister, Debra, who was a detective (and later a police lieutenant), for Dexter’s eight seasons and reprised her role in the 2021 reboot Dexter: New Blood. The actress also portrayed an FBI agent in Limitless and the CIA Deputy Director of Operations in The Enemy Within. As anyone can see, Carpenter has extensive experience playing characters in law enforcement, making her well-suited to portray a U.S. Deputy Marshal in 1923 on Paramount+.

As mentioned above, not much is known about Mamie Fossett in the Paramount+ Western drama other than her occupation and confident personality. It’s unclear how Carpenter’s recurring character will fit into 1923 season 2’s story or what her relationships will be with the other characters. Nevertheless, Carpenter is the perfect addition to the cast of 1923, and her time playing Debra in Dexter proves it.

Debra Morgan’s Success Proves How Great Jennifer Carpenter Will Be In Yellowstone’s Prequel

Jennifer Carpenter is one of the few Dexter cast members who appeared in all eight seasons of the show and reprised their role in the decisive reboot, and her underrated character was one of the best in Dexter. Despite the Showtime crime drama’s two mismanaged series finales, Debra was always one of the greatest parts of the show, and that’s thanks to Carpenter (along with the writers’ development of Debra over the course of Dexter).

The original Dexter series finale was widely contested by fans given its ambiguity and how it felt rushed. So, Showtime rebooted the crime drama to give the show a better ending, but that one was also criticized. However, despite Dexter’s controversial endings, Carpenter’s character shined through and was one of the series’ more successful characters. As a result, one must think that Carpenter will excel as Mamie Fossett in the second season of the Yellowstone prequel spinoff 1923.
