This Morning viewers say same thing as Vanessa Feltz receives live mammogram

This Morning viewers were full of praise for Vanessa Feltz after she bravely underwent a live mammogram on the ITV daytime show.

The broadcaster, 62, took part in the segment to highlight the importance of breast screening, receiving widespread admiration for her openness and courage.

Vanessa Feltz Undergoes Mammogram Live on Air

During the show, presenters Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley introduced Vanessa’s segment,

explaining that she would be taking viewers through the process of a mammogram—a routine X-ray procedure used to detect early signs of breast cancer.

As the cameras followed her to the screening, Vanessa remained composed and positive, determined to spread awareness about the life-saving importance of early detection.

Fans quickly took to social media to applaud her for the bold move. One viewer wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “Fair play to Vanessa for doing this, it’s a little uncomfortable (literally for a few seconds) but not painful, and can save your life!” Another commented: “Well done to Vanessa!!! Love that woman!” A third supporter added: “Good on Vanessa for doing this live,” while another praised her bravery, saying: “A big cheer for the great Vanessa Feltz for having a mammogram live on air, brilliant. She’s smiling but it’s a brave thing to do live.”

Hosts Ben and Cat also commended Vanessa, calling her “brilliant” for openly sharing such a personal experience in front of the nation.

NHS Praises Vanessa’s Efforts

Michelle Kane, Director of Screening and Vaccination at NHS England, also expressed her gratitude for Vanessa’s participation in the segment. She issued a statement highlighting the importance of breast screening and the impact of Vanessa’s awareness campaign.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Vanessa for raising the vital importance of breast screening on national TV. It’s fantastic that she took the time to share her experience so openly with viewers and talk directly to women about why breast screening can save lives and what they can expect when they go for their appointment,” Kane stated.

She also reminded women to take advantage of NHS breast screening invitations, adding: “The NHS launched a new national campaign earlier this month to encourage more women to attend breast screening when invited, and if you are worried about any symptoms in the meantime, please visit your GP.”

Vanessa’s Personal Connection to Cancer Awareness

Vanessa has been a long-time advocate for regular health checks, especially after experiencing the devastating loss of her mother to cancer. In 2023, she opened up about her mother’s tragic battle with an aggressive form of endometrial cancer, which was diagnosed too late.

Recalling her mother’s experience, Vanessa explained:

“My mother was suddenly getting the most tremendous abdominal pain, but only sporadically and only sometimes, and very unpredictably. It was incredibly painful when it happened, and she went from doctor to doctor, specialist to specialist, and they all pretty much did that pat her on the head thing, saying, ‘Are you neurotic? Are you looking for attention? Is it the menopause?’ And it turned out to be endometrial cancer. She died at the age of 57.”

This deeply personal loss has driven Vanessa to use her platform to raise awareness about cancer symptoms and the importance of early detection.

Vanessa’s Mammogram: A Powerful Message

Vanessa’s decision to undergo a mammogram live on TV sends a strong message to women across the country. Regular screenings can help detect breast cancer in its early stages, increasing the chances of successful treatment. By showcasing the experience on national television, Vanessa helped break the stigma and fear surrounding the procedure, encouraging more women to prioritize their health.

Following the broadcast, she urged viewers to take their health seriously:

“Please, if you are invited for a mammogram, go and get it done. It takes just a few moments, and it could save your life.”

Personal Life and Recent Headlines

While Vanessa’s inspiring segment on This Morning dominated headlines, she has also recently been in the spotlight due to her personal life. Last week, her ex-partner Ben Ofoedu revealed that he is engaged to a new partner, Vanessa Brown. The proposal reportedly took place just before Valentine’s Day, leaving fans surprised at how quickly he had moved on.

Ben had introduced his new fiancée on Instagram in January, and an insider revealed: “Vanessa was completely surprised. They were walking through the park, reminiscing about Elf, when Ben suddenly proposed. It was so heartfelt—happy tears, laughter, and, of course, an immediate ‘yes!’”

Vanessa has remained tight-lipped about her ex’s engagement, choosing instead to focus on her career and advocacy efforts.

A Lighthearted GMB Moment

Meanwhile, earlier today on Good Morning Britain, presenter Susanna Reid was forced to issue a correction after incorrectly stating Ben Shephard’s golf handicap. During a lighthearted moment, she revealed that Shephard had contacted the show, demanding accuracy.

Laughing, she read his message aloud:

“Ben Shephard has got in touch. ‘I expect a correction. I play golf off seven, not 15—which has taken a lot of pain, tears, and swearing. I am fuming downstairs,’ says Ben.”

Lorraine Kelly, who was on the GMB sofa at the time, joked: “Was that when you were talking to Anton Du Beke?” Richard Madeley quickly reassured Shephard with a playful response: “Yes. Don’t sue us.”

Final Thoughts

Vanessa Feltz’s live mammogram on This Morning was a powerful moment of television that resonated with audiences and health professionals alike. Her willingness to share the experience on national TV not only helped raise awareness but also reassured viewers that the procedure is quick, straightforward, and crucial for early cancer detection.

As she continues using her platform for important causes, Vanessa’s message remains clear: regular health screenings save lives. Hopefully, her bravery will encourage more women to prioritize their well-being and book their own appointments.
