Tiger Woods’ former caddy revealed the super golfer’s retirement plan, making fans regretful

Woods, a player director on the PGA Tour Policy Board, has just been appointed to the circuit’s new “Transactional Subcommittee”,

which aims to accelerate stalling negotiations over the peace deal with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia.

But while those crucial discussions will continue in the background, the 15-time major champion will revert his focus back to being competitive in major championships.

After making a record-breaking cut at last month’s Masters, Woods has been scouting out Valhalla ahead of his appearance at next week’s PGA Championship.

Woods has confirmed he also plans to tee it up at the US Open at Pinehurst and The Open at Royal Troon this summer, but it is unclear what the future holds for his playing career beyond these tournaments.

Joe LaCava, who worked alongside Woods for 12 years, including that famous Masters victory in 2019, has given us some clues about what could lie in store.

Woods is not eligible for the Champions Tour until the start of 2026 after he turns 50, but LaCava believes that, injury permitting, he could soon be mixing his time between the two circuits.

“I know he misses the game. I think he will test the waters on the senior tour and see if he likes it,” LaCava told The Charlotte Observer.

“It would be a great boost for the senior tour and he’s at an age where I could see him playing 4-5 events out here [PGA Tour], and maybe 4-5 out there [PGA Tour Champions.] He’s never actually said that.”

LaCava also thinks Woods will reserve plenty of time to support the sporting endeavours of his two children, Charlie and Sam.

“I also think he’s interested in following Charlie’s (golf) career and also his daughter, Sam who might become a college soccer player.”

Woods and LaCava split amicably in May last year after working together since 2011. LaCava now loops for Patrick Cantlay, while Woods has had veteran caddie Lance Bennett on the bag for his most recent starts.
