Tiger Woods is embarrassed when recounting his journey from a 15-year-old boy to a super golfer, why?

Tiger Woods changed the landscape of golf more than any other golfer in history. His fame transcends and he has inspired younger generations to take up the sport.

Tiger changed the way he played and approached golf, placing the importance of strength and fitness at the forefront. This caused coaches around the world to change some of their views.

Tiger Woods and impressive numbers

Woods is famous for being an extremely strong golfer, with the ability to “long – drive”. Even recently, despite many injuries, Tiger still has drives over 300 yards.

At the Genesis Invitational earlier this year, the 47-year-old golfer surpassed opponent Justin Thomas.

Back in his prime, Tiger was one of the most famous golfers in the golf world. Tiger ranked 2nd in distance from the tee in 1997 with an average of 294.8 yards.

By 2004, he was averaging more than 300 yards off the tee for the first time (301.9).

Tiger’s best season in terms of driving distance was 2005 when he hit an impressive 316.1 yards on the PGA Tour.

Tiger Woods’ annual all-round average on the PGA Tour (in the seasons he played from 1997 to 2022) is 299.2 yards.

In 2000, Tiger won 9 times in 20 starts on the PGA Tour and that included 3 major tournaments. The year 2000 can be considered the peak of Tiger’s “peak period”. During that season, he achieved a driving distance of 298 yards.

The Longest Drive Tiger ever made was 498 yards. It was the 18th hole at Kapalua in the 2002 Mercedes Championship.

According to analysts, Tiger’s most important thing is his high concentration in important moments. This focus was consistently implemented by the legendary Tiger Woods in each of his shots. This has created the brand and success of this golfer worldwide.

Tiger Woods and the records set

With excellent skill, strength and stamina, Woods holds many golf records. He has been the world number one golfer for the most consecutive weeks and the most total weeks of any golfer in history. He has been awarded the PGA Golfer of the Year a record 11 times.

Woods has the record of leading the money list in 10 different seasons. He has won 15 major professional golf championships (behind only Jack Nicklaus, who leads with 18) and 82 PGA Tour events (tied with Sam Snead for the first).

Woods leads the way in career major wins and PGA Tour wins. Woods is the fifth golfer (after Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus) to achieve a career Grand Slam and the youngest golfer to do so.

On August 20, 2007, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger announced that Woods would be inducted into the California Hall of Fame. After winning the 2019 Masters, Woods was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Former US President Donald Trump.

Tiger Woods has become the biggest name in golf and his presence in tournaments has attracted a large fan following.
