‘Today’ Fans Praise Craig Melvin After He Makes “Big Announcement” Honoring His Brother

Craig Melvin, beloved host of The Today Show, is honoring the memory of his late brother,

Lawrence Meadows, in a meaningful and impactful way during National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.

In 2020, Craig shared the heartbreaking news that his older brother had passed away after a battle with colon cancer.

Since then, Craig and his family have been dedicated to raising awareness about the disease,

ensuring that Lawrence’s legacy lives on through advocacy for early detection and preventive screening.

To mark this important month, Craig, who serves on the board of directors for the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, has teamed up with NBC to create a special collection designed to help raise awareness for colorectal cancer.

This year, Craig unveiled a ¼ zip-up Today sweatshirt and matching socks, created in collaboration with the Colorectal Cancer Alliance and NBC. The limited-edition pieces are not only a stylish way to support the cause but also a heartfelt tribute to his brother’s fight against the disease.

“Big announcement! 💙,” Craig wrote on Instagram to share the news. “Last year, I was inspired to design and create a TODAY tie and sock set in honor of my brother, Lawrence, who passed away from colorectal cancer back in 2020. This year, I went the sportier route and designed a ¼ zip and sock set. With your help, we can raise greater awareness about the importance of preventive screening.”

The collection is available for purchase online through the link Craig provided, as well as in person at The Shop at NBC Studios. Craig emphasized that every purchase would contribute to the fight against colorectal cancer, with donations going to support the Colorectal Cancer Alliance’s mission to raise awareness, fund research, and improve access to screening.

This initiative is particularly meaningful to Craig, as it gives him an opportunity to continue the work his brother started before his untimely passing. Lawrence had been an outspoken advocate for colorectal cancer awareness, working to educate others about the disease and the importance of getting screened early. Craig’s decision to use his platform and design skills to honor Lawrence in such a personal way is a powerful testament to his brother’s memory and the impact of their shared advocacy.

The announcement of Craig’s latest collection quickly garnered a wave of support from fans, friends, and colleagues. Many people took to the comments section to express their admiration for Craig’s continued dedication to this important cause. One follower wrote, “Love what you do to advocate for early detection, and to honor your brother’s memory ❤️.” Another commented, “Thanks for your unwavering leadership in the fight against colorectal cancer, Craig. You are making a difference!!”

For Craig, using his platform to share his family’s story and raise awareness about colorectal cancer is a personal and emotional journey. His commitment to this cause is not only a way to honor his brother’s legacy but also a way to encourage others to take charge of their health and make preventive screenings a priority. Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States, but with early detection through screening, the survival rate can be significantly improved.

Craig’s continued work with the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, as well as his partnership with NBC to raise funds for the organization, is helping to bring attention to the critical need for education, research, and access to screenings. The fact that Craig’s design efforts are now benefiting the foundation further cements his commitment to his brother’s cause and his ongoing leadership in the fight against colorectal cancer.

As we observe National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, Craig’s efforts are a poignant reminder of the importance of early detection and the power of a family’s love in making a lasting impact on the world. Craig Melvin’s emotional tribute to Lawrence Meadows is more than just a clothing collection; it’s a call to action for everyone to get screened and to support those affected by this devastating disease.
