Savannah Guthrie surprised viewers on Monday when she stayed on after her usual early morning duties on the “Today” 

show to co-host the 10 a.m. segment alongside Jenna Bush Hager.

Hager took to Instagram to celebrate Guthrie’s presence, calling her the “queen of the early hours” 

and announcing that she would be sticking around for the “Today with Jenna & Friends” segment. 

The hour was previously co-hosted by Hager and Hoda Kotb but has recently featured a rotation of guest hosts following Kotb’s departure.

Kotb officially exited the show in early 2025 after a 17-year tenure on “Today” and a total of 26 years with NBC. 

The beloved anchor left to focus on spending more time with her two daughters.

Guthrie’s return to the 10 a.m. slot—where she and Kotb previously co-hosted—sparked a wave of reactions from fans. Some embraced the pairing with enthusiasm, expressing their hopes that Guthrie would permanently take on the role.

One Instagram user commented, “I am loving Savannah and Jenna today!! It’s comfortable, Jenna looks relaxed and not trying to overdo. This would be a great team that I would watch every day.”

Another fan echoed the sentiment, saying, “Please pair up Jenna and Savannah permanently! It feels so right, and they are a joy to watch together!”

A third chimed in, “The definition of friendship!! I vote Savannah as permanent co-host.”

However, not everyone was on board with the change. Some viewers felt that Kotb’s absence had left a void that had yet to be filled.

“Hoda brought so much to the fourth hour. She’s positive, loving, and funny. The 4th hour needs help… her life experience makes her so wonderful,” one viewer wrote.

While it remains unclear whether Guthrie’s extended presence is a one-time occurrence or a sign of a more permanent shift, her appearance has certainly sparked conversation about the future of “Today’s” fourth hour. For now, fans will have to wait and see if NBC decides to make the pairing official.
