Since his attention-grabbing performance in early 2023, Romeo Beckham spent the first half of the 2023/24 season quietly on the Brentford B team.
He did not leave much of an impression in the youth tournaments of English football.
The most recent brilliant performance of the “gentleman” of the Beckham family came all the way back in February 2023,
when Romeo scored a header in the 90+3 minute to help team B Brentford reach the semi-finals of the Middlesex Senior Cup.
In the transfer window last January, the second son of the Beckham family joined Brentford’s B team on loan until the end of the season from Inter Miami.
The English team then recruited the player on a one-year contract.
However, lackluster performance in the first half of the 2023/24 season left Romeo with almost no chance of having his contract extended by Brentford. Brentford coaches believe that Romeo’s professional level is not good enough compared to his teammates of the same age.
The Brentford coaching staff took evidence from Kim Ji-soo, who is 2 years younger than Romeo in the B team, but promoted quickly in just the first 6 months of playing in the foggy country.
Kim Ji-soo was signed by Brentford on a 4-year contract in the summer of 2023, at the same time as Romeo. The Korean midfielder has just been named on the list for the 2023 Asian Cup.
British media revealed that the 2002 midfielder is considering other stops in this year’s January market. His move shows preparation for a new stop in his career.
Romeo has just moved out to live with his girlfriend Mia Regan in a new apartment. Before that, he lived with his parents David and Victoria in a 31 million pound mansion.
Romeo is Beckham’s only child still pursuing a football career. In the past, Romeo trained at Arsenal’s academy but had his contract cut in 2015.
