“It was a great week here in Valhalla, but unfortunately my scores weren’t as good as people expected,” Woods said after his round.
Woods opened his second round with a double bogey-bogey-double bogey sequence on holes 2-4.
“I started off bad and got punished by the rough on hole 2. I compounded it on hole 4,” Woods explained after his round.
“I just kept making more mistakes and I didn’t play too bad the rest of the way, but the early mistakes were too much.”
Tiger returned and scored well with two consecutive birdies at holes 7 and 8, but made two consecutive bogeys at holes 11 and 12.
Woods took par from holes 13-17 and made a birdie on the final hole to close the round with a score of +6. In round 1, Woods shot 72 strokes +1.
In fact, Tiger’s poor performance this time did not come from previous injuries, but simply because the American golfer did not have a good feeling for his shots. Tiger’s approach shots and short game were really not good in this tournament.
Tiger Woods’ next appearance will likely be at the 2024 U.S. Open, taking place at Pinehurst No. 2, from June 13-16.
