Beyonce’s charity foundation to award multiple GSU students scholarships (video)

Grambling State University, a historically black college in Louisiana, is one of the lucky recipients of a generous donation from Beyoncé’s philanthropic organization, the BeyGOOD Foundation.

The foundation announced that it is launching a scholarship program called the Renaissance, which aims to support students and entrepreneurs from marginalized and under-resourced communities.

The program will award $10,000 scholarships to 10 students from Grambling State, who will be selected based on their academic performance, financial need, and creative potential.

The application deadline is July 14, and the winners will be notified by August 15.

The Renaissance scholarship program is part of Beyoncé’s broader efforts to promote economic equity and social justice through education and empowerment.

The BeyGOOD Foundation has partnered with several other institutions and initiatives, such as the Shawn Carter Foundation, Tiffany & Co.,

and the Black Is King visual album, to provide scholarships and grants to students and artists from various backgrounds and disciplines.

The foundation has also supported relief efforts for the COVID-19 pandemic, the winter storm in Texas, and the water crisis in Flint, Michigan.

Beyoncé, who is one of the most influential and successful artists of all time, has always been vocal about her passion for education and her appreciation for historically black colleges and universities.

She famously paid homage to the HBCU culture in her 2018 Coachella performance, which was documented in the Netflix film Homecoming.

She also established the Homecoming Scholars Award Program, which awarded $100,000 scholarships to students from four HBCUs in 2018 and 2019.

Grambling State University expressed its gratitude and excitement for being chosen as a Renaissance Scholar school by the BeyGOOD Foundation.

The university’s president, Dr. Brenda A. Allen, said that the scholarship program will enhance the students’ ability to pursue their studies and careers in the arts and humanities, which are high-priority fields for the university.

She also thanked Beyoncé and her mother, Tina Knowles, who is the co-founder of the foundation, for their generosity and vision.
