Instead, she is shown in a video from 2019 in which she discusses the hunt to find the right child to play Harry Potter and her relief at finding Daniel Radcliffe.
Miss Rowling faced accusations of transphobia after publishing an essay last year in which she argued that gender identity should not be given priority over a person’s biological sex.
Stars including Miss Watson and Radcliffe later voiced their support for the trans community.
Helena Bonham Carter, 55, who played Bellatrix Lestrange, also appears in the reunion.
Return to Hogwarts will be screened on New Year’s Day on Sky and its sister streaming service Now to mark 20 years since the first film based on Miss Rowling’s first book, Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone, was released in cinemas.
