Michael Strahan, a beloved figure on FOX NFL Sunday, is often seen engaging in playful banter with fellow analysts Terry Bradshaw and Howie Long. 

Given his storied football career, which includes a Super Bowl victory with the New York Giants, his presence on the panel is well-earned. 

However, his loyalty to the Giants was recently called into question after a controversial on-air moment.

Before the Philadelphia Eagles secured their second-ever Super Bowl title with a dominant 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, Strahan found himself in an unexpected situation. 

During a conversation with Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, Strahan was put on the spot in a way that sent shockwaves through the Giants’ fanbase.

Barkley, who made headlines in March 2024 by leaving the Giants to sign with their NFC East rivals, the Eagles, has had a stellar season. 

His move to Philadelphia was met with heavy criticism from Giants fans, given the long-standing rivalry between the two teams. However, Barkley quickly proved his worth, amassing 2,005 rushing yards and scoring 13 touchdowns—far exceeding his 962-yard performance with the Giants the previous year.

During their chat, Barkley playfully challenged Strahan by presenting him with an Eagles flag and encouraging him to join in on the pre-Super Bowl festivities. Initially hesitant, Strahan ultimately gave in and waved the flag enthusiastically, delivering a statement that did not sit well with Giants fans.

“For all you Giants fans out there, I’ve been around a lot of guys who left the Giants and went to other places that I did not like, and I never liked them,” Strahan admitted. “But [Barkley] is such a special man. C’mon, we’re going to ‘Fly, Eagles, Fly’ with Saquon Barkley because I respect the brother so much. And we don’t have a flag in New York.”

Adding a humorous touch, Strahan quipped, “Anyone who needs real estate in New York, I have to sell my house.”

Unsurprisingly, his actions sparked outrage among Giants fans, who took to social media to express their disappointment. One disheartened fan wrote, “I can’t believe I had to watch Michael Strahan wave an Eagles flag on live TV.” Another was more direct, stating, “Michael Strahan is a traitor. LT (Lawrence Taylor) is the best defensive Giant ever.” Others were simply in shock: “I still can’t believe Michael Strahan did that.”

While Strahan’s playful antics were meant in good fun, this isn’t the first time he has found himself at the center of controversy during his tenure on FOX and other television appearances. His charismatic and often unfiltered personality has led to several headline-making moments, including debates over the national anthem and discussions surrounding his transition from professional athlete to television star.
