Her long-awaited eighth album R8 is due next year.

And with the release date looming ever closer, Rihanna was spotted filming a video project for the new record on Thursday evening in at the Trocadéro in Paris, France against the scenic backdrop of the glittering Eiffel Tower.
The superstar was mobbed by over 100 screaming fans, who hoisted her onto their shoulders and crowded around her to capture the moment on their phones.
And the video sequence was planned, with police standing by in case things spiralled out of control and tweets going out via fan accounts to round up her loyal ‘navy’ in the hours before the event.

French fan website Rebelle Rihanna revealed: ‘Rihanna asked her fans to meet her at 17h45 at the Trocadéro in Paris as part of the #R8experience, to film a video sequence which will be used for her upcoming eighth album.

‘Everyone was still waiting an hour later, but the beauty finally arrived at 19h40.
It is not yet known whether the filming was for a new music video, although Metro News reports Universal Music have confirmed the information.

Meanwhile, melty.fr are also alleging the event was in aid of her comeback single.
Rumours are also rife the shoot could have been an editorial campaign for Puma since Rihanna was just announced as the brand’s new creative director.
The 26-year-old Bajan beauty was clearly loving the set-up since she bore a giant grin on her face as she dived head-first into the arms of her adoring followers.
‘Ran off set of an editorial shoot, straight into the arms of my fans… thank you french navy’, she posted alongside an Instagram shot.

Rihanna only stayed at the location for around five minutes in total.
The singer was dressed in a bizarre get-up for the occasion, wearing a blue boiler suit with chunky black boots and blue plastic gloves.
The Pour It Up hit-maker can even make factory chic look good, and she jazzed up the outfit with some silver bling and gothic hair and make-up.
